I've been meaning to learn to drive for years but I always put it off cause I'm scared. But now I'm pregnant I really wish I'd done it, when baby is here it will be so much easier if I can just jump in car rather than having to wait for hubby to drive me somewhere or get bus with baby & pram.

So I was thinking of learning now while pregnant. Is this a good idea? I'm 7 weeks today so not due till October. Just wondering how stressful you found out, how long did you take to learn and would you have attempted it when pregnant?

Thanks,

Hiya, I learnt when I was 17 I think took well under a year but what I would recommend and do to everyone is do a crash course if you got tge money you can do it all crammed in to one week but may be very tiring being 7 weeks so I dunno but yeah great to be able to get around independently etc xx

And btw yeah if I were 7 weeks I would even if you pick it back up egen baby is here atleast u got a head start! Xx

I started driving lessons at the begging of march last year passed my test the end of may and had LO the 28th october, i didn't find it too stressful at all just got a bit hormonal when i done things wrong lol! i told the Examiner on test day so that i didn't have to do the emergency stop xx

This was my plan as soon as I found out I was pregnant, cause I really hate the thought of struggling with a baby on the bus! But things conspired against me, first I lost my driving licence and it took me forever to get a new one sorted, then I was admitted to hospital for 16 days and initially told I'd be in till the birth, then I was discharged and told I couldn't do anything except rest - so now here I am at almost 32 weeks and no nearer at all :-(

I'd say definitely do it and start as early as possible because by tri 3 you'll be sooo tired and big that you'll find it really hard. I'm going to wait till baby is born now but am determined to do it - but will be struggling on the bus to start with :-( xxx

thanks for the replies everyone. ZMD thats great you started lessons in march then passed test in May. Would be amazing if I can learn that fast, fingers crossed. Going online to apply for provisional now. Gulp.

Do it! I'm learning. I don't think it's very stressful, but then again I've been going on an off since I was 17... I'm 22 in April. An the worst thing is... My lessons are free coz my dads a driving instructor!!! Shocking I know xxxx

Hi i passed when i was pregnant with my 2nd daughter and i was 33 weeks, i just really needed to drive lol

I did my lessons and passed my test when I was pregnant with my second daughter and didnt really find it stressfull at all it was more stressfull thinking id have to take the bus with 2 kids!! id say go for it, its the best thing I ever did wouldnt be able to live without my car now it gives you so much freedom which is so important when you have little ones, good luck x

woooo im gonna go for it too! starting some lessons in the next few weeks, im not due until the 4th October! Fingers crossed we all pass before the wee ones arrive xx

I passed in 8 months although I dragged my lessons out! If i'd have done a lesson a week i'd have passed in half the time.
Since having my LO I couldn't imagine life without my car! It's my gateway to socialising and being able to do the weekly shop and generally get about! :) Good luck!

cheers everyone. Well I have applied for my provisional licence online so now waiting for that to appear. Have looked at a few driving instructors sites and trying to find best deal now. Marley, really pleased youre doing it too. Have you ever driven before, we can get each other through it :). I'm due mid Oct so just after you.

yes it is best to learn to drive then when baby due hope you would of passed always best for other half to have a car to incase need to go doctors etc when hubby in work i learnt when i was pregnant passed in december had baby in may x

Go for it definitely!
I should do the same. I'm not pregnant but I hope to be soon *fingers crossed*
I have the money but I usually spend it on shoes and clothes and not a provisional licence!

I'm going to look into it when I get my next credit card (tomorrow hopefully).
GOOD LUCK! xx
