Leaky boobs

I am really struggling with my leaky boobs at the moment. I am getting through lots of breast pads each day but still often soak through them, my bra and clothes. On top of that, when attempting to latch on (which can take a while due to fussy baby), my boobs often drip, pour and even spray milk and it just gets everywhere. I keep a muslin to hand but it doesn't always catch it all and its unpleasant having a wet muslin sat in place during a feed. I am getting fed up of damp bras and wet patches and dread it happening in public. I've laughed it off with friends/family but don't want to be wandering around in sopping wet clothes when I (eventually) brave taking her out properly (something that still feels impossible :-( ).

Is there some trick I am missing to dealing with this? What do other people do to stay dry?

Which pads are you using? I've found that I leak through all pads I've tried other than Lansinoh ones. Also not sure how old your LO is but it does settle down after a while. I take a spare top with me in my change bag just in case x

Lansinoh pads and tuck a muslin in your bra like a boob bib. It gets better quite quickly once your supply settles :-)

I use Lansinoh too - only soaked through and leaked once (in the morning after going out and 'skipping a feed' and letting my oh feed expressed feeds overnight). I often have the dripping problem when we're latching too! So sticky! Also seem to have this problem as I lean forward when I'm drying myself off after a shower! Just when I get all lovely and clean they start going and it runs all down me! I have to scramble for my bra/pads before ANYTHING else. They joys of bf. So glam! ;)

I used to use a breast shell on the other boob while I was feeding. I could fill it just from my let down! I swore by those in the first months

Thanks for replies. She's 7 weeks and I use Tesco pads.

Leaking is worst at night. Eg tonight she has skipped a feed so woke with enormous boob and my clean on bra and nightie now both have wet patches and I have soaked an entire muslin catching the initial spray!

Maybe I'll try different pads overnight...

Scotchegg - I do use the muslin bib, but they often get so wet they are unpleasant to have mty arm leaning on and so can't be nice for little one's face either! Plus they often still soak through to clothes underneath. I have got some breast shells and do sometimes use them in the morning and can collect a good oz in one short feed. Do you store the collected milk for feeding? I'm worried that it's all foremilk and so need to pump afterwards to balance the bottle but not sure if that's necessary.

Dingdongbaby, I also often drip after a shower; think it's the heat of the water that Triggers it.

On a positive note, OH persuaded me to brave a trip into town yesterday and we managed it with minimal bad behaviour from her. We found a really good public feeding room which had a private booth we used. Went into town to buy new nursing bras. While trying on bras my little one started crying and both boobs started dripping onto the carpet!

I kept the milk once, but I was too exhausted at the time to keep sterilising etc so used to just or it down the sink.

Def get different pads! I had a box of tesco ones and they're rubbish - switched to Lansinoh and haven't leaked through those at all - def worth the money!

I had another major leak today so will give the Lansinoh ones a try. Think I've got a couple of sample pairs from Bounty/Emma's Diary packs somewhere. I see amazon sell boxes of 240 so if I like them I can bulk buy to make them slightly less expensive.

I think I used 2 or 3 packs when I found those before it settled down and I started using reusable ones. Hope that helps

Try johnsons? I know breastfeeding is hard that's why it went wrong at 4 weeks and I just caved in with the formula. I think if it keeps persisting contact a lactation consultant it could be to do with let down reflex? I bought a big box of tommee tippees too they're alright imo x
