I know it's been asked a couple of times what symptoms you got leading up to labour, but in my case (with no signs at all lol), did any of you go suddenly into labour with no signs? (Or very little signs?)

For example, my BH have calmed down, Evie's no longer engaged, plug is still perfectly in tact etc etc... So as you can see, I'm a picture of health right now! lol

I'm pretty sure I'll go over, but I'm praying someone, somewhere can give me a little ray of hope that I can still go into labour naturally with no signs at all?

 xx

With me everything happened at once. I had no idea it was coming. I expected to be induced. I started with contractions 3mins apart, 45mins later lost plug, 2mins apart. Got to hospital 1hr 35mins later, 7cm dilated, waters broke then 30mins later had baby. All happened in 3.5hours! I had a dodgy curry the night before so to start with just thought it'd disagreed with me,

Bloody hell  That must have been a bit of a shock for you!! 7cm?! Friggin' heck.. I don't think I'd want it THAT quick

So my body hasn't given up then lol, that's good I suppose! x

Yeah, and the midwives were trying to keep me at home, they thought they'd check me over and send me on my way!!! I was in a huge state of panic, although there was really no need! Think they were shocked too.

But maybe your little girl is saving it all up for you like mine did! Lol. No teasing beforehand!
I do remember my OH asking if i was in labour and since he'd been asking me that 30 times a day for 3 weeks he got a slap! Lol

Hi
I was in hospital with pre eclampsia and went to sleep at about midnight on the Wednesday feeling fine, woke up at 2.30am ish with contractions every 4mins. After an hour trying to convince the mw it wasnt wind she did an internal and I was 4cm. By 4.30am I was 7cm and baby arrived at 11.45am.
When hubby left me in hospital Wed night he said "yr not gonna gointo labour tonight are you?" I was convinced I wasnt as I felt fine and had no signs or niggles at all.

I had no signs. Went to bed on the wednesday night allprepared for my sweep the next morning. Woke up at 6am, went to the toilet and there was so much brown gunk it was unbelievable (assumed it was my plug), so I came downstairs to have something to eat and I kept leaking (felt like I was weeing myself) but it was browny green. Rang the delivery suite and was told to go in, got there at 9am, had to lay on the bed for an hour to allow fluid to pool in my vagina to be examined. Found out it was my waters and Jaida had done a poo. Then I was examined abit later on and I was 2cm dilated, got put on a drip to speed things up and she was born at 3 mins to 5pm.

So yeah it can happen without signs :D

i had no signs with mine, i never had a show with any and my waters didnt break on there own with any except with one where they broke all up the arm of the consultant while he examined me  .
The only signs i had with any where contractions.

FWIW I didn't have much in the way of BH's ever. My plug stayed intact till the day I went into labour (I was already in latent labour) and my LO had been engaged earlier but had popped back out and then engaged when I went into labour.

I spent 2 days of latent labour so knew it would happen eventually. But before that I'd only had a bit of back ache. The thing was I knew I was going to go into labour. I just felt it, even though it took a while to get going with latent labour pains and then into first stage labour.

I was only a few days over and LO arrived in about 11 hours of actual labour starting. So it can kind of happen quickly.

I'd just try to relax and don't think too much about it. Just get on with life as best you can and enjoy yourself. The more you dwell on the due date the bigger an issue you make it. Best thing is to let baby decide when to make an appearance and not count the days, hours and minutes.

I started getting very irratic contractions in the evening... had a very lose motion before going to bed (thats what told me the contractions wernt BH!). Woke up about 3 and my waters poored out onto my bed as I laid there - :puke:

Went to hospital. Corey was breach, undiagnosed. Taken for a c section, born at 5.10am. I was abotu 4cm dilated tho, and in no real pain (RLT mabey helped there? Cervix was opening fast as)!!

I know its said alot - but you will know. Dont worry, Evie is not going to fall out from between your legs while your shopping hun!! (its not going to be that easy - :rotfl: )

I had no signs either and was absolutely convinced I was going to go over, but in the end he was born at 39+4

Went to bed Wednesday night feeling absolutely fine. Woke up Thursday at 4am with a little bit of tummy ache. Lost plug at 10am, contractions kicked in, hospital at 1.30pm, waters broke at 3pm, baby born at 4pm.

Fingers crossed that things happen quickly and easily for you :D

Thank you ladies!

I guess I just assumed I would lose a plug, get an increase in BH, back ache, head would engage - all perfect like the text books say! Should have known!

I have always expected a September baby, so going overdue isn't the real concern, I'd just like it to happen naturally so I can go through the early stages at home before heading off to hospital iykwim?

There is still time before induction for me to go into labour myself - Which really, is my fear? Yet I still have 2 weeks before an induction?!

I do get a bit silly at times and don't look at the bigger picture! I just focus on ONE concern and let it take over..

Thanks again ladies! You're always so great with your replies  xx

You don't *have* to be induced if you don't wish to be. Even at 42 weeks. The Doctors will advise it probably, but then thats their job. Very few women ever reach 42 weeks plus before going into labour. Chances are you'll deliver within the 42 weeks. Trust your body :)

Do some reading on declining an induction. Its here in the Ask a Mum section, somewhere in the past few pages I am sure. Loads of people discussed it.

Ah!! I never knew that!! I thought you HAD to have baby by the 13th day or something...

I'm definitely going to read up on that. And I have a MW appointment next Thursday so I'll discuss it with her then too!! :cheer: x

I had nothing except the BHs which were random bursts every now and then the week leading up to her birth.
Didnt have a show or anything like that. I may have had a bit of mucous but thats it. Nothing really that said that labour was iminent.

And then my waters broke :? I was getting back into bed with the laptop one morning to come on PF and i sneezed and my waters popped

I had no signs, until I had a sweep at 37+6. After that I had loads of discharge, then woke up the next day with back ache and belly ache, loads of regular tightenings which eventually turned into painful contractions after a few hours.

I know I had a sweep, but my body was obviously ready for labour otherwise it wouldn't have started.

Good luck! I keep checking tri 3 10 times a day waiting for your 'I'm in labour!!!' post! It will come, I'm sure

You can go into labour at any minute at this time :D
Not all women have 'signs',i had on & off contractions for 2 weeks and ended up being induced at 39w4d.

i had no signs at all until my waters start "leaking" the day before my due date

I lost my plug about 6pm on Tuesday evening. Thought it was gross- posted in third tri, text a pic to john!, put my dinner on, had my dinner, hd my shopping delivered, unpacked the shopping, watched CSI, had a bath, went to bed about 12, got out of bed about 2.30am and took 2 paracetemol, had another bath, decided to time the contraction.... 3 minutes apart!, when to the hospital about 5am got told I was 6 cm, phoned my mum, mum arrived, Evie was born at 7.24 am!

:rotfl: so my build up to labour was ctually labour! it only REALLY hurt for about 4 hours! :D

No signs at all for me - I'd actually spent all day moaning about how I was going to be induced (I was 11 days over). First I knew was when I had my first contraction at 10.30pm. I lost my plug about 2.30am, got to hospital about 3am and had her at 5.55am.
