We've got a baby massage session tomorrow, our first one. I'm hoping that this will be relaxing for Tyler and maybe get me some much needed sleep (not getting too excited tho! Lol!) my question is, say it works, can you buy baby friendly lavender oil to help encourage this?

not quite the right answer but I got some fabric heart decorations for sophies room and Im thinking of putting them up above her bed but putting some lavender oil on them first so there is just the scent of them in the room x

it should be fine if diluted in a carrier oil, maybe not the almond oil tho if you lo isnt exposed to nuts a lot. i eat them all the time and did during preg and now while i bf too, i used lavender and clary sage oils in almond oil to massage into my bump.

We were told to use only vegetable or olive oil for massage - especially on hands and feet that might go into LOs mouths. Shame as essential oils smell so lovely!

Yeah, I was told just to use food based oils as well. We use grape seed for G.

But then it was our HV who did the session rather than a proper massage class. Xxx

we did a proper massage course and told only to use either first press or cold pressed oil, any type of vegetable oil.

lavender oil is very antiseptic and don't think it would be good on their skin.

how about putting some on a tissue near them so they can still smell it?

I think it was sunflower oil they used at the class we went to. If ever I massage Brody I used a bit of johnsons night time cream smells nice. Not proper massage tho. x

I went to my first class last week and she even said Johnsons isn't a good idea as its quite perfumed so she also said only food based oils to be used. If I remember right though I'm sure the Johnsons bedtime lotion has got lavender scent in it, I think so maybe that would work? A lot of people have said the Johnsons bedtime bath range is excellent, I can't really comment because Angel is very good at night anyway but it might work for you

We don't use Johnsons it made Tyler's skin dry. We only use aqueous cream.

Shouldn't they provide you with the oil? My mum has just trained as a baby massage instructor (dedicated granny) and is doing a free class and they provide the right oils xx

I was gonna say we were told to take ours home and practice I've done nearly everyday with Angel for a week and I've got loads of sunflower oil left, goes really far.

They use Organic Vegatable ol at baby massage where i go because its a food the body can absorb it and use it! they said to doesnt clog the skin, they said if you dont have organic normal vegatable ol from the cupbord will do, send Alice to sleep without the lavender xx
