Had my extra scan this afternoon. The cyst (possibly dermoid) that was discovered at the first scan has grown so they will have to operate to remove it. Fortunately the baby is fine.
I go in tomorrow for my pre-op assessment and will have the operation on Monday.
It's major surgery - a mid-line incision under General Anaesthetic. (mid-line means cutting straight up from pubic bone to belly-button) I will be in hospital for ~5 days - maybe more depending on how the operation and recovery goes. Then I will have to rest at home for several weeks, if not months.
It's all happened very quickly and OH and I are trying to get our heads round it all! Ultimately the risk of leaving it there is greater than the risk of removing it now so.... not really what we had expected.
