Hi girls, last night around 10 me and the hubby dtd. At around 12 i woke up with what felt like contractions, they were quite strong so after half hour of timing them i got out of bed and went downstairs. I timed the contractions for 2 and a half hours. They were coming every 4-5mins and lasting a minute atleast, became more intense and felt like a extremely bad menstrual pain and dull back ache along with the obvious tightening. Enough to make me clench my teeth through the pains. Definatly Nothing like braxton hicks which i have everyday mostly all day long anyway.

Anyway they stopped after 3 hours, isit just wishful thinking that they will come back? Obviously it was the intercourse that set them off, all down to hubby as i didnt do anything but lay there like a slug. Lol x

i had this for a few nights before i actually went into labour. Its all the pain but none of the result :( and its rubbish. The only thing that made me realise i was actually in labour was the night i started vomiting aswell from the pain. Even then the contractions started to ebb away in the delivery room and had to have another sweep to keep things progressing! There is a condition called promodal labour which probably describes what you went through.

Ohhh funny thing you mentioned the sickness. I actually started feeling sick during the episode of contractions too. And feeling a pressure in my bum area. Do you think i should tell my hubby to stay away?or keep at it? Also was it intercourse that set yours off? Or did it happen all by itself?

intercourse- ha!!! no way. I had such a horrible and painful pregnancy - i was just in pain of all kinds for months before the prodromal labour topped it all off- i had a couple of sweeps a week before my due date to hurry things as i had so much pain and then went into labour exactly on my due date. I think you are starting to labour then your body is changing its mind! I just thought- the day i went into labour i had a physio session because my pelvis was out of whack. Apparantly that can stop labour progressing. So if you have hips that feel out of place i recommend an oesto or physio to get labour started! When are you due?

I had severe spd with 2 previous pregnancys, although this time round it hasnt botherd me all that much during the day. Its only at night i have a big problem turning around in bed and getting up to the toilet. Pain in my groin and back is terrible, almost has me in tears some nights. Im currently 38weeks+3days. My first two pregnancys waters broke before labour started. One at 38weeks, other at 39weeks. It was the midwife who suggested intercourse to get things moving along. Babys been engaged for some time. I wasnt expecting intercourse to have any effect on me as previous intercourse (eg. Last week) had no effect on me appart from the usual braxton hicks. So i was quite shocked when i got woken up with such intense contractions.
