Right here goes my birth story for anyone who does want to read it BE AWARE I FOUND IT PRETTY HORRIFIC!
Went in at 8.30pm wed night (11th Nov) as arranged, had first pessary that night, 4th dose of pessary given sat morning as had had no effect apart from period pain. Saturday at 3pm went to delivery and waters broken at 4pm, told i was 1.5cms. Very weird having waters broken not too painful due to gas and air. Told to go for walk for up to 2 hrs, managed 1hr then was in agony with contractions every 8 mins. Went back to ward and these quickly became back to back contractions. Examined me still only 1.5cms started me on drip around 6.30pm. Between then and 8.30pm is a blur, i was permanently using gas and air, delirious and in agony. About 8.30pm i asked for epidural, this was administered at 9.30pm tho it could have been 10 hrs later for all i remember. Pain subsided and i lay on bed apologising for being such a wimp as i was still only 4cms - mw said induction by drip caused much worse pain and i wasnt a wimp! Examined at 1am was only 5cms. Tried to doze but around 3am got really bad agonising pain in my hip and side (either the epi had worn off on the one side and i was feeling contractions there or it was from position i had been led with no feeling)! Examined at 5am and was 8cms, had to use gas and air with epi from this time as pain in hip was so bad. Examined at 7am told i was 10cms. Had to wait around an hour for epi to wear off more and not allowed to use gas and air. Started pushing at 7.45am - could now feel contractions but not enough to effectively push so mw was telling me when to push. Pushed for 1.5hrs, crying and saying i couldnt do it any longer. Doctor came in then and said i could do it as he was coming. She said if i wanted her to cut me she could and he would be here quicker, i screamed yes so she did an episiotomy and after a few more pushes he came out and was put on my chest. I could not believe he was here and just lay there in shock crying my eyes out for an hour while they stitched me. Apologising to oh, mw's and doctor for being so pathetic! Anyway i am ok now, lol. Oh and i forgot just before i started to push i threw up everywhere twice!! X
