Sorry, I know these questions have probably been asked to you all about a thousand times before but I did a search on the topic as I want to start getting my things together and get organised but I am so confused on what I need!

Then when I saw that we need 3 bags

It's been so long since I last had children, I don't have a clue!!!

Is there a link to a website someone may have where I can obtain the details?

Seems so much to take in!

Also, what can you ladies recommend to buy before birth that isn't on any lists?

K - you are too bleeding organised woman!!! (When you've finished organising your wedding and labour bags can you pop to Derby and organise mine   )

I will keep an eye out for the reply though, as I suppose I really should plan for this baby to arrive beens as I've been in 3rd tri for over a week and have only ordered a cot and a bouncer

My advice is dont bother to take any baby wipes or bath products as all they will want you to use in hospital is just pure warm water to clean your baby. Disposable pants are a waste of time too, I never used mine!

Also, take a hairdryer! I washed my barnet the day after Zac's birth and they didnt have a hairdryer so my hair went like a frizzball :(

Your little man is gorgeous by the way :cheer:

Awww thank you so much hun!! Yeah he is a little smasher, wont be long till you have your LO too

There are lists on several websites, just do a search on google.

I only took a bag for me and a bag for the baby.

I personally found the disposable pants very useful and they were much more comfortable than I ever thought they would be. If I were you I'd buy a pack (in a size bigger than you normally wear) and try them and make your own mind up.

The important things for yourself are: maternity pads (i liked the mothercare ones the best), breast pads, wash things, nightwear

For baby, it's useful to buy babygros in different sizes, perhaps get them nearer the time so that you can return any that are too big/small. Mothercare do a good range especially for small babies.

As Jaidy said, they like you to just use water and cotton wool to clean babys bottom with. Isaac got a really really sore bottom though from just using water and cotton wool so the neo natal unit gave us some aqueous cream to use instead, much kinder for babys bottom.

I think you're doing the right thing, you can never be too early when it comes to packing your bag for hospital. My waters broke at 34 weeks, I had my bags packed thankfully.

ive only got a bag for me and a bag for baby, off the top of my head this is what ive put in them both

Baby-

about 15 nappies
pack of wipes
sudocrem
3x sleepsuits
3x bodysuits
2x scratch mittens
1x cotton hat for after delivery
8x bibs
going home outfit & hat
newborn dummy ( though dont think hospital like you to use them ive put one in anyway)

My bag-

fig rolls and energy tablets for labour
1x cotton dressing gown
2x front opening pjs
1x nightie to deliver in
2x nursing bras
super thin night time sanitary pads ( i didnt like the maternity ones felt like i was wearing a mattress and hurt my stitches )
slippers
breastpads
5x cotton knickers ( black lol to throw away afterwards )
toiletries- hairbrush and bobbles etc
thick socks for if i get cold in labour
flannel to cool face during labour
mp3 player for labour
camera - IMPORTANT lol
a book to keep me occupied if in hospital ages

thats all i can think off the top of my head, will add the rest when i get home :cheer:

Something to give birth in, something to change into, nappies, Ive just got my freebie pack of baby wipes, wash stuff, maternity pads, breast pads, mp3 player, vests x 3, babygros x 3, socks, scratch mitts, outfit for coming home including snow suit thingy, dummies, cardis, spare knickers err thats it i think.

glad you started this kirly as i'm thinking of getting all my stuff ready to pack very soon and this is a very useful thread,

one can never be too organised!!

There is a list in the back of the babies r us catalogue too.....

my hospital were good and put 5 nappies by your cot and then the bounty lady gave me another handful.... they also werent bothered about you using wipes so at night I used the ones you get free in the bounty pack....

i used the mothercare pads too but found Always night time just as good.. ( although i had a section and I am told you don't bleed as much )

Kirly is Monica from friends in disguise :rotfl:

Im going to ask SIL what she just took in as she just had one of these sized type head bags and it seemed plenty

Mind you im terrible for packing like when I go on holiday for a week I take enough for 3 weeks even through everytime I say ''next time Im bringing less as I never wear it''

I think you have to bear in mind unless something goes wrong which it won't kirls you will only be in there for 6-24 hours. Im probably going to pack essentials but then have a 2nd back up bag in the boot of the car so if Im in there for longer than expected B can just bring it in from the boot, but that if I don't need it were not having to lug it about.

That's what I'm concerned about JW, I don't pack light at the best of time!

I'm trying to be prepared, I'm even thinking about getting my eyelashes and eyebrows tinted to make sure I'm prepared for photos etc

Im going to get B to back mine, ill end up with just a bum bag of essentials then ha ha

Pics - Monica, I bet you won't give a f about them after 12 hours of pain ha ha

This is great. I guess I better start thinking about packing, although I want a homebirth. I need to ask about that at my next appointment. I'm not staying in longer then I have to though. I hate those places.

I was told very firmly on hospital visit that I would only be allowed one bag for baby and myself! Not sure if this is the same in all hospitals though.

I have packed pretty much everything you guys have mentioned..

Also packed some plastic straws-handy if you have to lie down (epidural etc) so you can drink..also lucozade tablets (from Asda) for energy..head band to keep my fringe away from my eyes...dark coloured dressing gown & PJS-had got white but MV said if you bleed a lot it aint nice so bought black...

In my bag I have packed a nappy, vest, babygro, hat and scratch mitts so Lee can give them to MV to dress bubba once its born-babies bag can then be left in car until we are settled on ward

OH has packed his own rucksack with a spare t-shirt, deodorant, flip flops (its stiffling hot in there), tooth brush, I Pod and a book

Erm, lastly in with hozzie notes we havea sign saying "On labour ward" on case we have to park car outside labour ward-MV said this was ok if in a rush to save trying to find parking space...

Hope this helps :D

my OH got 3hours free parking lol, after 14hours of me in labour he couldnt b bothered to keep gettin parking permits so just left it!!
he explained to reception and they werent bothered lol
