Hi...

This might be a silly question, but I'm wondering if I am able to get a kitten whilst pregnant?

I am going to wait for a few months - so to be on the safe side.

There are a lot of conflicting reports on the web - and just wanted some advice.

Thanks!

We got our kitten when we lost the twins & it really helped us get used to having something to look after that depends on you, Pump is 6months now but you need to take into consideration they come with costs. Not too much but food, litter, operations, insurance & buying the cat & everything they need.

I dont see why you shouldnt just dont be doing the tray as we arent allowed hee hee :) I love having Pump & the baby is due the day before her first birthday we just have to take into consideration she probably will get a bit annoyed when Rocky is here & taking our attention ha ha xx

Very true about costs... just really want to make sure that it won't damage the bubba.

Gotta convince the boyf yet too :/ He's gonna love having to change the tray ... barely litter trained himself! ha.

Thanks for the advice, girly.

HAHA!!

I am sure other girls will give you advice about it too I know a lot of them have pets :)

xx

I have two cats. One a kitten and the mother a cat! As long as you don't go near litter trays, you will be absolutely fine. :) get OH to do the changing haha. :) xx

We have two cats and hubby does the litter tray. Remember to always wash your hands before eating too after stroking them.

MIL is concerned about our cats lying on the baby and suffocating them but we aren't concerned at all - our cats will probably stay well hidden! They've never had pets so just go with the scare stories off the internet.

We have two cats aswell, I haven't touched the litter tray since we found out I was pregnant.

I can't see it causing any harm as long as you don't do the trays but very true that there are costs. We have 3 dogs too so our house will be interesting when the twins arrive!!

Good luck, you'll not regret a kitten!!

Thanks for all of your advice, ladies.

We've decided to go for it when we get our new place.

Yippeeeee!

X

I wouldn't worry hun - get a kitten if you feel like it! We have cats, and as my OH had to go away for 3 weeks when I was in tri 1, I even had to do the litter box. You'd have to be extremely unlucky to get toxoplasmosa, I think. I'm not even too bothered about washing my hands after stroking the cat, and I've had cats since I was little, and still test negative for toxo :)

Hahaha what a brilliant way to avoid doing the tray! Then it'll become your bf's job forever because you can claim you don't have the knack- so funny! Awww it would be lovely to have a kitten- so sweet. I'd probably do it sooner rather than later so it's calmed down and grown up a bit in time for when you have a tiny baby around the house!

The risk is there but i swear its gotta be hard to catch
I kiss my cats on the lips, breathe into their fur, share my food off my fork, let them groom me... and i never specifically wash my hands after touching them!
Just don't touch their poo and youll be fine!
