How have you been entertaining your kids in this heat? I have a 3 year old and an 8 month old. I am 14 weeks pregnant and feeling horrendous!

We've got the paddling pool up in the garden, but it's not very shady out there so I don't like to keep them out too long.

We've got playdoh, painting, books, colouring, drawing, duplo. But I'm running out of ideas!

Controversial but .... DD has her own kindle fire for kids. I let her have some time on that.

Another that I love to do us making Rice Krispie cakes. Keeps them entertained for ages and you can get them to decorate them will things like sweets, mini marshmallows etc

Is taking them out an option? We went to the cinema today because it’s 32c and the aircon was blissful

Baking? We like making "special drinks", which are basically mockails. We do mojitos with ginger beer, apple juice, lime and mint. My three year old loves squeezing the limes and ripping the mint leaves. Or make fruit salads

In honesty after lunch I put a dvd on. My Dd is usually shattered from the heat and since she doesnt nap we watch a dvd for a bit of chill time

I've never taken the kids to the cinema, I wasn't sure how baby friendly it would be. Or do they not really care if it's a kids showing?

I brought the paddling pool into the living room today to try and cool us down but keep out of the sun lol. I looked at going to the outdoor pool but it was 1 adult to 1 child and I didn't have anyone that could come along with us.

Ooh we do mockrails too with frozen berries etc. Summergurl I wouldn't bat an eyelid about the kindle. Needs must.

The cinema might be okay if it's a kids showing. My cinema does special kids showings that have the sound way turned down and when I've been people take their kids and babies, feed them bottles etc , it's pretty chilled, nobody is actually wanting to watch the film or shushing you.

My 4 1/2 year daughter just wants to play in the back garden with her friends right now, I wish I could keep her in! With a three week old baby it's actually harder having her out playing in the garden with the neighbours kids because I end up having them all to look after :wall: I can't wait for winter lol

Some cinemas do parent & baby specific showings xx

I literally live for YouTube kids on the tablet some days!! Don't even feel bad about it! You can be an entertainer all the time, especially with a little one and being pregnant!
Other than that I sometimes give my 2.5 try old a box full of cardboard stuff I've saved. Cereal boxes/tubes etc and he messes about with those- can sometimes buy me 15 mins ha!! Xx

Our kids are the same age though I’m not currently pg! I HATE the heat and as someone else said, my toddler has been on his kindle a fair amount. When it’s been 30+ I don’t want to take them on days out etc as it’s just been too much for all of us. I’ve also bought lots of crafty things and my lb loves those phonics books and anything like that so one of those keeps him entertained ages. I envy any mum who can give a toddler their undivided attention AND cope with a clingy 8m old who won’t be put down at the same time as sweating her t*ts off!

I have an almost 11 month old and when it's 30+ outside our flat gets to be about 34 degrees inside due to it being sun facing :(

I sometimes resort to multiple baths and showers with the kiddo just to cool off and have a splash - he loves them!
Sometimes just putting on some music and having a sing along and a boogie makes the time fly by a bit.

I'm really struggling in this heat too I can't imagine how you're coping! Whenever the kiddo is asleep I just lie on the bed naked in front of the fan and ignore all the chores and eat ice poles...
