What is the actual reason for not lifting heavy things/stretching too far etc?

Is it just because you're more likely to pull something and hurt yourself or is there any actual danger to the baby?

As far as I know its because you can hurt yourself so much easier as your ligaments etc. get looser or something... Not very medical explanation I know! I didn't thnk there is any risk to the baby.

Yeah the hormones in your body during pregnancy slacken the ligaments in your body, causing all kinds of issues ( Including Urine infections cause the "tube" from the kidneys to the bladder sags and bacteria builds up) without lifting things, I pulled a muscle in my shoulder a couple of days ago, And then was told I cant have anything except paracetamol! :( Its also because during pregnancy, especially the later stages, Your balance goes out of whack and you could have a fall.
