I just got back from my first hypnobirthing class and it was really good. It was a bit strange seeing the videos of birth though - I'm so used to seeing women screaming, panting etc that it was quite surreal seeing these women push out their babies while completely calm and with little visible effort. I just hope it works for me :pray:

Sounds amazing! I never went but think RedShoes and Valentine have both been reading up on the benefits of it and so forth they would be good sources of info for you if it's something your interested in I'm sure.

Thankyou for the mention Nicola, I'm far from trained or an expert, just hypnobirthing is indeed something I feel passionately about and wish all mums could have some sessions looking into it, it's not mind control as many think.
Glad it was a positive experience for you Clydesdaleclopper :) I loved my sessions and all the confidence the book gave me too. Hypnobirthing is all about relaxation, breathing and keeping things natural and it's great to see the positive fear free births isn't it. Really hope you continue to enjoy it and it helps you have a positive and wonderful birth :hug: PM anytime if you wish too, best wishes :D

wow sounds great! I wish i had tried it now, but im with the attitude in and push them out then all the fun starts at home.

But thats me all over.

Im glad your class went well and hope it all works for you when its your time

I haven't been to any classes but I've been practising at home. I've been listening to the CD regularly (although the voice is starting to annoy me a bit!), but I also listen to music and practise the breathing. I've been really positive about natural birth from the start, but am also aware that it doesn's always go to plan so I will try my best and just take it as it comes. Any hints/tips would be appreciated xx

There are no classes near me so I have been using the cd as well! I have fallen asleep listening to it a couple of times but apparently thats ok! I am really hoping for a more chilled out birth experience this time and would love to know how others get on. Redshoes gave me some really useful information about hypnobirthing too.

i've got a cd too! haven't listened to it yet tho cause have to b 32wks. hope it works

The CD can be listened to from any week, and falling asleep whilst its on is fine too, I had all mine on a CD and would fall asleep listening to them nightly :lol: When you do the classes you get extra CD's but you can also buy some from the NCT shop, though I've not used them personally I hear they're great ;

The breathing really helped me through labour, as did listening to the calm CD, got me to 7cm dilated with no pain, and was in labour a total of 86hrs so glad I was relaxed for the most part of it, only had probelms when I was induced and it became non-natural, it's all in my birth story.

Very best wishes, remove the fear of birth and it is a much more wonderful and amazing experience and better for mum and baby too I reckon :hug:
