After a very much wanted bundle baby Jacob finally arrived!
I was due on 29.09 and originally intended to go to a midwife led unit for a water birth but after two unsuccessful sweeps I went to a different hospital to be induced.
I went on 11.10 at 9am and was initially due to have pessary but MW said I was 3cm and they could break my waters as they were apparently bulging!
10:30 am we went to delivery suite and it was a tiny enclosed room but never mind, I get to meet baby so had my waters broken at 11am could barely feel it happening and gush came.
The gush didn't stop so found it really hard to move at all no opportunity to use a birthing ball or walk around because my waters kept going which was frustrating & MW said I had more waters than the average person!
So had to stay on the bed apart from going to the toilet I didn't feel I could do much else!
Due to an emergency else where they stopped the hormone drip at 3pm and was put back on at 7pm which was a shame as I had started to contract.
7pm I was put back on the drip at 2ml which over time went up to 48ml. I was in established labour from 9:30 pm.
Gas and air was going fine but my contractions started to come so quickly with no break in between I kept wriggling on bed so they would loose the babies heart rate. I also felt severe back pain more than the contractions because he was back to back.
I opted for an epidural (amazing stuff) which really took edge off the back pain and could barely feel contractions. They continued to monitor the heart rate and it was still low so attached the monitor to his head at 1am.
It was one of those times where you could sense the urgency of the mw i had two in the room constantly monitoring. There was a csection taking place so they were waiting to see the doctor and As soon as they did at 1:45 I was advised to have a csection by the doctor.
They could have taken a sample of blood but could see he was in distress but doctor said it was clear the heart rate wasn't recovering. We had heard his heart rate all day and was horrible to hear it drop. It was the worst part of my labour
I was didn't care I was having a section if I had use of my legs would have run to the theatre!
At 2:15 Jacob was born. I didn't know what we were having the whole time of my pregnancy but OH knew and told be during the csection to take my mind off it and I barely recall the section! I was anxious and over the moon we were having a little boy
Jacob came out & yelled at everyone! He was 9lbs and they had him so wrapped up he looked like a little old man!
He was fine recovered quickly, examination was fine & he had vit k injection without screaming...I cried!
We went to post natal Jacob and I discharged myself a day early, I felt good and have done since & taken it easy. MW wasn't very happy but apart from having blood pressure taken and pain killers I didn't need anything would just sit there with oh!
I am totally in love & in awe of this little person. The first morning we had i put Jacob on OHs chest and sat in bed together & watched tv & drank tea while they slept, it was perfect.
Jacob loves cuddles, hates nappy changes and is a little munchkin I spend most of my time just looking at him mesmerised.
Thank you to all the PF ladies who shared my pregnancy journey!
