Hey Ladies,
Hope you're all ok this morning!
Just wanted to check in with my IVF ladies about any changes that you've all made in the run up to starting IVF or during IVF. OR to see what changes you made that you didn't think we're helpful etc
Our issues are all to do with me. I have severe PCOS and a low egg reserve. So we've decided to throw everything we have at this (this will be our first cycle) in the hopes that it works. we've been given aprox 40% chance of success by our consultant, so im hoping with all the healthy changes we make, we might add on another 1 or 2 %.
The hubs and I have been reading a fab booked call "The IVF Diet" by a doctor called Zita West - 100% recommend this book for all of you ladies going through IVF or about to start! It gives you recipes for each stage of the IVF process so that you can maximize your vitamin and mineral intake at that stage - so along with what the NHS have told us and what we've read and researched we've made the following changes:
*I'm having a acupuncture once a week.
*hubs is taking a male fertility vitamin and co-Q10
*im taking folic acid, co-Q10, vitamin D, Inositol and N-Acetyl Cysteine
(all the vitamins and supplements that we're taking have all been cleared by the consultant)
*obviously we've both stopped drinking - didn't drink much anyway but its been completely cut now.
*as of the end of this week, i'll be cutting out most of the dairy, sugar and carbs from my diet and will be changing to mainly - veg, fruits, meats and fish.
*my exercise has been cut back drastically- this may seem an odd one but im a long distance runner and my consultant felt that cutting back in the run up and during the IVF will help my body cope better and give my body more energy. so im now down to long walks and yoga, which isn't the same and a good 4-5 hour run but I still feel like im doing something.
reading it back, this all seems a bit extreme but it doesn't feel like it....I suppose I just keep thinking that the more effort I put in now the better chance we have of it working....
I guess I just wanted to see what everyone else was doing and what changes, if any, you've all made?
hope you're all having good days
