My baby's heartbeat for the first time!! :cheer:
I wanted to cry I wish OH had been with me or my mum.

I've also had blood taken for the serum screening. I really didn't know whether to have it done or not and in the end decided i'd rather be prepared and know what to expect.
Also there was a trainee GP or someone in there observing and the midwife couldn't get the blood out of my arm so this trainee person did it. OMG my arm is hurting so much now after she has done it it's really painful. I don't think i've ever had blood taken and my arm hurt as much as this!

yay i just posted same thing!!!!
SO COOL eh??? xxx

Congrats on hearing it for the first time! I bawled for 10 minutes after the first time we heard ours!

It was so lovely hearing it's heart beating away.It makes it real again if that makes sense?
It has been a few weeks since my scan so the excitement has worn off a little from that but now i'm all excited again.
I so wish OH had been with me to hear it i get all emotional just thinking about it :cheer:

I had blood taken by a trainee midwife last Wednesday and i still have a big purple bruise even now. Worse still is that they only got half a syringe full out of that arm so they had to start on the other one after that.

My arm is still hurting now! It looks like it is starting to bruise as well.
In fact I've felt really sick since having it done, I'm not very good at having blood taken at the best of times she has really put me off!

I shouldn't have said yes to letting her do it. My midwife had bother last time but she never hurt my arm like that!

I think the trainee person was trying to prove a point to the midwife that she could do it.

I couldn't stop laughing when I heard my baby's heartbeat for the first time- it's wonderful. My husband was with me and it was the first real confirmation we had that we were going to have a baby - before first scan y'see.

I had screening bloods done yesterday but am also not sure I wanted them done. I gues fore warned is fore armed though? Luckily I had an experienced midwife taking mine- I'll certainly look out for the trainees! Poor you!

I bought a doppler of my own so after the 12 week scan I knew where the baby was laying and found the heartbeat myself with my OH listening, I've saved it on my phone as my OH ringtone so I know it's him calling before I look at my phone!!!

I hate having my blood taken, this time I moved so she had to do it again on the other arm, then when it was all finished I was nearly sick, the lady was like "oh say i get you a bowl??, do you wanna lay down??" She was a bit panicked bless her, I just needed fresh air and I was fine

first time midwife tried to take my blood she couldnt do it and ended p sending me to the path lab at the hospital

I bought a doppler too and i try to use it as little as possible bt it is reassuring and my 6 year old loves hearing baby
