I've been given ANOTHER round of antibiotics!

Humph!

Doctor rang me last night to tell me that the urine I gave the midwife early last week shows I have a urine infection and that I will need antibiotics to treat it.

It's very weird as I have no symptoms at all.

This will be my second round of antibiotics while pregnant. I had one lot at around 5wks (before I knew I was preggers) to treat a throat infection and now this is round 2.

I had a long chat to the doctor about the fact I didn't want to take them as they might harm the baby but in the end he said that an untreated infection isn't good for the baby either. So I've got 3 days worth of antibiotics followed by another wee test in the new year.

Seems my body has lost all use of it's immune system!
I'm not very happy about the whole thing!

Aw hun - I know how you feel. I feel like I have a urine infection but it's not showing up as one on tests so I can't have anything for it!

I think there are certain antibiotics that are ok in pregnancy - UTIs are fairly common apparently. Try not to worry too much hun and drink lots and lots of fluids to flush that infection out.

Oh no, not again poor you

According to the pharmacist I was talking to any of the penicillin type anti-biotics are fine to take whilst pregnant and the ones they give you for uti's are only 3 days worth so it doesn't normally have time to work its way into the uterus.

yeah the doctor said than non are proven to be 100% safe but they shouldn't do any more harm than the infection itself.

Think I might invest in some cranberry juice and drink plenty to try and flush my system out.

Fingers crossed this will be the last batch of drugs I'm prescribed though...

If it helps Frog - I have been diluting the cranberry juice with water as it reduces the acidity and means you get twice as much fluid all with the delicious cranberry goodness (yum yum). I hate plain water at the minute it tastes funny

I've got a 2 litre bottle of the mix infront of me as we speak - and am just pouring the last of it into a glass (aren't I a good girl!)

I feel like i might bee starting with a water infection too ahh the joys of pregnancy , i'm going to pop to the shops tomorow and pick up some cranberry juice, will try watering it down like you said babyblonde, might make it taste better
