IV drip in labour

Hey guys sorry if this is a silly question especially as this is number 4 for me but as I've never needed one I'm unsure..

I had an appointment with a consultant this morning and ended up seeing the registrar instead.. on my notes she's written iv access in labour. Am I right in saying if you do have an iv drip that you will have to stay in hospital over night?

I had antibiotics & hormone through IV during labour & I had to stay in overnight to keep an eye on baby for any signs of infection. This was because I'd tested positive for strep B. X
 
I had an IV drip, baby was born at 9.18pm and I was discharged at 10am the following morning x
