IV antibiotics in labour..

Hi,

I have posted in a while - had a lot going on & a lot of issues which means I am being induced tomorrow at 37+6

I have just gotten over a UTI which they discovered on my second stay on labour ward and prescribed me Cefalexin which turns out it wasn't strong enough to stop the infection & they need to give me more however the only ones strong enough are Amoxicillin & this other one (can't remember the name - V something) I am allergic to Penicillin so this means I cannot have the Amoxicillin & the other type you cannot have orally after 36 weeks so will need to be hooked up to a IV to receive it.

Has anyone else had a antibiotic IV during labour? How was it?

Yep I did with my Son! My waters had been leaking for 2 days so had an IV drip and to be honest I didn't even notice it! Xx

I had allsorts through a drip when I was induced with cabhan and everything was fine. didn't even notice x

It's just a drip. Won't harm you. But all Labour's are unpredictable
