James's sleeping that is. He used to be sooo amazing and has slept right through since 10 weeks. He has been unsettled for the past few weeks cos of him teething but then we had a couple of nights of him sleeping through again, but for the past week or so, I havent had an hours straight sleep :(
We bath him and give him his last bottle which he either falls asleep drinking or goes off just after. I then carry him up to bed and he sleeps til about midnight. He seems to wake up with a start - either he has had a bad dream but i dont this can be the case everytime - or he realises that mummy is no longer with him and it scares him so he properly screams. I put his dummy back in and sometimes he goes back off again but then at 1am he starts screaming again. And this time there is no consoling him until I take him into our bed and then he cuddles right into me and goes asleep. Trouble is I dont sleep well at all cos he is sooo heavy on my arm and he is a real fidget bum too and often awakes for his dummy again.

so Im a bit stuck really. Im so exhausted. It aint easy at the best of times, never mind when preggers. I hate the idea of leaving him to scream because he really does scream his lungs out. He has also got into the habit of turning on his tummy and he kinda crawls up to the top of the cot and ends up smacking his head on the bars of the cot (I have put a bumper up but it aint v effective against his paddy) so he hurts himself and screams more...

Any ideas girls?? I soooo need a decent nights kip. I dunno if he is sickening for sommat, (his voice sounds a bit croaky today but that could be through tiredness) he is still teething, having nightmares, or its just a case of he wants to be in bed with mummy. I dont want to harm him by leaving him but i dont want to not have any sleep if he is just playing up cos he prefers Mummies cosy bed....

HELP!

Arhhh... i really feel for you especially with you bein preggers! it can get so frustrating.

I had the same problem with my little girl, i only ever put her down too sleep, either already asleep or very doopy and about asleep.. therefore when she woke which started with her teeth about 4 and half months she would scream for me as the only thing that ever sent her to sleep was me BF her, complete comfort thing 'Mummy & Booby' maybe ur LO is the same with urself and the dummy..

Anyhow i did the controlled crying... i made sure she was awake when i put her into her cot, yes it was horrid 4 the first night, i sat sobbing on the top step whilst my OH stopped me from gettin her out but it DID work, honestly, the best thing i ever did, it took an hour the first night of picking her up every 10mins too calm down, putting her straight back and leaving the room, then extending it to 15,then 20, the don't recommend u leave a baby any longer than this. the second night it took about 15mins and she never kicked up a big fuss again.. Im guessin she finally came too the conclusion..'No point they're not gonna get me out!'

After that i often heard her fussing in the nite chattering away to herself and she'd go bk off- Result- LO happy in own company!

thats not to say the little monkey has never ended up with me again
but as a rule we never looked back on a un-happy bed time again

i hope ive not babbled too much!
I hope your LO settles soon
