Hello All :D

Apologies if this is repeated elsewhere... Anyone else experiencing really sensitive skin? My shins have always been dry but it's getting silly, I'm trying my hardest not to scratch but at night when I'm alseep and don't know I'm doing it I must be scratting away as I wake up with red marks all over my legs and broken skin.

I've started rubbing them with a loofah every morning and night and applying Cream E45, but they're a real mess. Anyone any ideas/good creams I can use? I'm guessing it's just another lervely side effect of the old pregnancy hormones...

Yes I had this too for about 4 weeks earlier on - doc said it was hormones making my skin sensitive, but it was sssooo annoying and even kept me awake. It did go eventually though so you should be in the clear soon. I used a cold flannel to calm it and stopped using my body lotion coz the perfume in it didn't help. It's gone now so I am throwing on tonnes of moisturiser all the time which is bliss. MW told me to go back and see them if it gets really bad - apparently really severe itching - where you make your skin red raw and even bleed - can be a sign of a liver problem (but it is treatable) so just keep your eye on it and if it gets really bad go see your doc.

I had itchy legs as well, although not too badly. It seemed to clear up about 2 weeks ago (at 17 weeks). Midwife said not to use any bath products or shower gel, and I used my old trusted nivea cream, which was nice and cool.

Hi,

I have the same prob but i have a rash that appears also, its mainly my hands but does affect my legs also.
My skin is so dry i look like a granny!

I haven't had itchy legs, but have had an itchy tummy. I've been using an oil from Clarins, which is supposed to help prevent stretch marks during pregnancy. It's actually sold as a firming & toning product, but I've found that it really helps with moisturising too. It's a bit expensive, but a little goes a long way, and feels really good on dry skin.

you most prob know, but itching in pregnancy isn't always normal...

i had itchy feet, legs, arms and hands, and mentioned it to my mw and it turns out i had OC (the liver condition SarahJJ mentioned).

i used aquasis (sp?) cream and wrapped myself in cold flannels. this only just helped, but my itching was v. bad.

its a horrible feeling! im sorry i don't have a miracle cure!!

Thanks for your advice everyone... It seems to be getting better using the E45, but my legs are a right mess! Hope the scabs fade soon...
