Mummy_Midwife is having problems posting on the forum so I have taken her birth story and put it on here for her. Unfortunately I can't get a picture to work at the moment!)
Meet baby Isla so as you know, my waters went at 1:30 am and spent the day niggling with strong BH sort of thing. At around 7:30 pm the contractions felt sore, although not regular, they were coming every 2, then every 4 minutes then every 3 then stopping... Lasting between 18 seconds to over a minute so thought the midwives would just laugh it off when I went in. At 9:30 pm we arrived at the hospital , couldn't quite believe when they said 4cm, although my cervix was still ...very thick got to labour ward at 10 pm and asked for the gas and air. It did act as a bit of a distraction but the pain was intense so it didn't really take the pain away. At 11 pm I started feeling pushy and screaming I couldn't do it anymore and that I wanted an epidural ; midwife examined me and I was still 4 cm , felt gutted and thought my body was playing tricks... At 11:10 pm I told the midwife she was coming... Midwife looked at me think feeling sorry for me and said she was going to speak to anaesthetist about epidural and have a quick cup of tea as she hadn't had a break and was going to be back soon. I felt a bit lost then but when I put my hand down I felt Isla's head , DH started shouting the head is coming, the midwife without gloves on just managed to help with the delivery the urge to push was so intense, is the most wonderful feeling in the world, can't quite believe I went from 4cm to delivering her in 10 minutes. Placenta came out quickly after that I pushed it out myself but then started bleeding and got the injection, all settled had a tiny 2nd degree tear that was sutured but it is not been painful so far. She fed well , had her checks and we were home by 5:30 am to 2 very excited children, DH's sister and mum (who were here looking after the older 2). It was one of the most emotion intense moments of my life, seeing how proudly my older 2 held their little sister. The community midwife came to visit and checked on us both and all continues to be well. I am just in baby heaven at the moment. Thank you again so much for sharing this journey with me and can't wait to see who will go next xxxx
