Yesterday I went to the doctors to tell him about my pregnancy and he said that I have to make an appointment with the midwife as she's the one who books you in at the hospital now :?

Last time I just told the doctor then when I was about 10 weeks the midwife contacted me and I had my 1st booking appointment.

I've got an appointment to go an see her tomorrow now but what will she do seens as im only 4 weeks? :?

Probably go through all the literature, the Bounty Pack, fill in your maternity notes, get your and your partner's medical history, check your heart & blood pressure, ask your weight and generally spend an hour or so gleaning information from you. :)

Oh and also answer any questions that you may have. :)

Congratulations, btw! :D :cheer:

All mine did was check my BP and famlily history. Also booked me in for another scan but that isn't until i am 13 weeks.

My MW said to phone her after my 12 week scan and book another appointment with her. (i have already booked it for the day after the scan!)

Hope your appointment goes ok x x x

Congratulations :)

That seems quite standard in many places now. I went to my GP to tell them I was pregnant, she said congratulations and to book in to see the midwife in a few weeks when further along as before then there was nothing to really do till then. It lasted about 20 minutes was all when I did go see the MW at 8 weeks. She booked me in, sorted out some paperwork and that was it till 12 weeks and bloods etc.

TBH at such an early stage as you are at, it might be best to just wait a few more weeks.

Thanks for your replies

I just phoned the doctors telling them I've got a midwife appointment tomorrow but im only 4 weeks an if I should wait a few more weeks. She said no, your supposed to see midwife to book in as soon as you find out your pregnant and to keep my appointment.

Just wondered because it's different to when I was pregnant last time, just told the docotr an he sorted it all out last time lol
