I'm not sure if this is the right section...

...But I had my scan today and as delighted as I was to see my litte one, I thought about the women who pray for this day and it got me thinking that I would love to donate my eggs once I've had my baby.

I have been thinking that as I am a healthy 20 year old and conceived quickly, my eggs should be good right? I have plenty of years to have more children, but I'd love to donate to give another family their own little angel.

I have a few questions though:

- Has anyone else donated?
- Does this affect fertility?
- Are there any health risks involved?
- How long after having a baby can you donate?
- What is the process?

Many thanks,

Dannii xx

Hi

I am going through my 2nd cycle of IVF at the moment. You would have to go through a similar process that i am, so i you have any questions about what it involves i would be happy to try to answer them.

Before you are accepted as a donor you have to have various blood tests and HIV and hepatitis tests. They will also need you to have counselling so they are sure that you can cope with the emotional side of donating.

It is not an easy thing to do, but a lovely gift as there is such a shortage of donors. I wanted to try egg share after my 1st go of IVF but due to my response to the drugs i am unable to.

I dont think it has an effect on fertility but most women usually wait until they have finished their own family 1st.

Good luck with whatever you decide,

not sure if this is correct or not but i THINK you have to have completed your family before you donate.
I get this impression as if we have any ads for egg donation in our local paper they always state that the person donating must have completed their family

It is done under sedation or GA. They are extracted with a very fine needle using ultrasound. It sounds horrible but i didn't feel a thing, i woke up and it was all done. I'm having it done tomorrow

That's a lovely thing to do Dannii! :)
I would definitely contact someone (fertility specialist) and see what the guidelines are, and what the procedure is? Good luck.
