Is something wrong...?

Layla has always been pretty alert and hardly sleeps through the day (since 6 weeks) The only major time she falls asleep in the day is when we go out in the car.

Anyway, yesterday and today, unless she is screaming/crying for her dummy or colic/teething pains, the rest of the time she wants to sleep! I'm even having to wake her for her feeds, which are not taking as long as normal as she keeps falling back to sleep on the boob!

Anyone experienced this? She will be 3 months on friday, and I'm wondering whether this is another sign of a growth spurt "through sleep" rather than a growth spurt "through eating loads"???

I reckon growth spurt. They say the sleeping baby grows loads (according to my nan lol) so probably just a growin phase. They are always developing and changing, prob just a phase xx

I hope you are right Lexi! I guessed it could be a growth spurt etc... I guess I should be enjoying and using the time wisely lol but typical me has to worry! xx

Yes I think growth spurt, they sleep loads when they are having one x

Charley's exactly the same ATM. If he's not crying he's sleeping and he's hardly taking milk. He's not very well though so Layla might be coming down with something!

thanks Zazu... the last growth spurt, she fed constantly - and I mean constantly lol! this time got me a little worried that's all, but glad to hear it is also another growth spurt xx

aaawww Chaz... I was wondering that too. Layla hasn't had too much milk today I'm giving her bottles of expressed milk at the moment so i know what she is getting but it's taking ages for her to take 4oz even! xx

Isla disks this the other day - seemed to be tired and wanting to sleep after barely an hour awake.

Today has been a real struggle to get her to eat. I'm also giving her expressed milk during the day to see how much she is getting. The most she has ever taken in one feed is 5.5oz - 4oz is the norm.

Is Layla gaining weight again now - didn't she lose weight at one point? What does she weigh now? Isla is a real slow gainer which is why I'm expressing to see what she is getting. It's so stressful having a baby that is a tricky feeder!

aaawww it's a nightmare hun! i'm glad 4oz is the norm! i was worried it wasn't enough...

as for Layla and her weight, she's picked back up now. she put on 1lb 11oz in a week!!! Getting her weighed again on monday so if she has lost weight/is the same then it has to be something wrong with their scales!

Hope Isla starts feeding better soon. it's so hard sometimes... xx

Wow - that's amazing weight gain in a week!

I meant that 4 oz is the norm for Isla but I was told that a breast feed could be anywhere between 2-6oz so I guess 4oz is average.

aww thank god i found this post, zak is 12 weeks on fri and has been exactly the same , he normally downs 6oz straight in about 10 mins bt the last few days hes been taking 4 ozs a feed if im lucky, sleeping more in the day and waking at night just for a moan when he normally sleeps theu. also cos hes been waking earlier , 6ish instead of 9, ive been givin him a feed and hes been throwing it back up. anyway, im glad others r going thru same experience
