Tilly has gained a lot of weight in a short space of time from my breast milk but I'm running into problems lately.

She gorges herself and takes in too much and then sicks it up everywhere. I am literally covered in sick today. We have had 3 outfit changes already this morning, plus sick in my hair, on the carpet and the changing mat!!

This vomiting only happens as bad as this when she's being a piggy.

I didn't think it was right to limit the breast milk but now I'm thinking maybe I should? It appears to aggravate the reflux and she gets really upset with the vomiting episodes and won't settle afterwards.

Any advice for me?

Oh dear!! Poor you and poor Tilly!!

Is it projectile or just general vomiting? Does she have a dummy? x

It's not projectile no, just spitting up I think. Its just it seems to be uncomfortable for her and she won't settle if there is more to come up iykwim?

It was a lot this morning though, we are both covered in it!!

Hmmm... Is she still on the Gaviscon too? Did you try to elimate lactose out your diet in the end? x

You can't over feed a baby they take what they want

Have u tried taking her off the breast to wind regularly. If theo is greedy and doesnt wind he will throw up a flood of milk.

If it helps Theo has gained alot in short time he was 10lb 0.5oz and at 11 week was 17lb 1oz x

I do take her off to wind her yes, that's when she's sick :(

I haven't eliminated lactose but I did get some colief which has lactase enzymes in it which are meant to break down the lactose.

I have no idea I am afraid. My best friend is also having the same problem with her lil boy. The doc prescribed Gaviscon and this didn't help either. If she finds a cure I will let you know x

I think if LO had a severe lactoae intolerance would have loose weight or had a small gain?

Press sent too early sorry. I would try to limit a little the breast feeding time lets say at 30 min per time if she usually feeds 40? Take her off the boob wind her and see if she cried or not?

My consultant basically said to me that sickness is only a major concern when baby is loosing weight instead of gaining

I had a feeling they would say that. And the not gaining weight is clearly not a problem.

Bah.
It's unpleasant to watch her really :( she looks in discomfort

How long are you letting her be on the boob for until you wind??

Usually about 5-10 mins. We usually have 2-3 burping sessions per feed.

She might just have a sensitive stomach? Are you using infacol? Sophie went through a stage of being sick and I think the infacol helped to give her stomach a bit of a lining

I use the infacol yes :(

I'm running out of ideas tbh

How about smaller and more often feeds?

I'll try that hope, I'm just reluctant to wake her because she's a tiny temper when upset and it's so hard to get her back to sleep!

Have you tried cutting certain things out of your diet incase its something you are eating that she is reacting too?

My lo is allegic to cows milk protein and meds didnt help with reflux. I had to stop eating dairy.

Also do you keep her upright for 30 mins after a feed? My lo would scream if I put him on a flat surface because the acid was coming up.And when you burp, if she gets air trapped, it will bring up milk.

Try excluding dairy for a couple of days and see if it makes a difference
