I've getting really annoyed with people not calling Lola, Lola

OH's mum is the worst for it. She calls her looly & lolas and it really annoys me :x

Is it just me or would it bother you?

It would bother me too. Can't really alter Angel, but it would annoy me if someone tried. That's the parents job to have pet names.

It annoys me when people call Maddison Maddie but I just bite my tongue because I dont want to sound rude by telling them not to call her that :?

Hmmm...I dont know. My mum and granmum sometimes calls Daniel funny variations of his name, but I am fine with it. But, for example, if I had a girl, whos name was Elisabeth (which I really like) and other people would call her Betty I would be right cross.

I bet she is just showing her love to Lola. ( I was called all kinds of different names, and now, when I grew up, when somebody calls me like my granmum called me when I was little (mind you she still calls me like that) it gets really warm in my heart. ) Not a very good answer...

Well, anyways, it is up to you. If you dont like it, just tell her. (But I am sure, in private she will still call her as she wants to)

I thought i had chosen quite a good name that could not be shortened etc..but OH's family are always calling him Haydey
or Haydeypops (which was my little nickname when he was smaller) it does annoy me esp as Haydey is the same length and
amount of sylabels as Hayden..i feel like hitting them when they call him that!!!so i know how you feel..also my grandad forgets his name and calls him Lyndon somtimes... :rotfl: :rotfl: that does p me off but hes old so i let it go!

Oh no!! I have been calling Maddison Maddie   From now on I wont :D You should have told me! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

My family call Clark Clackers or The Clacker Bum, they have since before he was born and I love it, they wouldn't do it if they didn't love him to pieces!

:rotfl: I know hun, I was going to say to you but just left it coz I didnt want to seem rude  You're not the only one, I have a friend across the road who calls her Maddie constantly even though I have told her a few times not too so have kind of given up a bit

I'd say something if you don't like it and would prefer they use Lola.

Some people insist on saying Galen's name differently and I always correct them. Its not a name that is shortened or will have a pet form of it, its Galen and thats it.

My mam calls Lydia "Lydi-Loo". It used to bother me but now I don't give a damn. I call her Lydi myself a lot of the time (although usually I call her guinea-pig).

My mam also calls Alex "Alec" and that bugs the hell out of me because I know she's only doing it because she hates the name Alexander or Alex - she kicked up HUGE fusses when I was pregnant about how much she didn't want us to name him that. We ignored her and did it anyway, but now she thinks she can get away with calling him Alec to pacify herself.

when thomas was born people called him tommy or tom   i hate it i correct them everytime if i wanted him to be called that i would of named him that
xx

people calling harrison Hal pisses me off and someone called paris pazza? I mean wtf

OH's mum hated the name Lola when we told her that was what she would be called. I don't know if that's why she does it?

My MIL used to call my DD (Ella) 'Lala' when she was younger. OH and I used to call DD 'La' (as when she cried she made a la noise). It used to get right up my nose as I felt it was our name.

Now everyone calls her Ellabella (we don't seem to use La anymore) but it does drive me mad when people call Ella, Ellie - that's not her name!

could be. I think my mam does it because she feels like she's got control. it's so damned annoying.

i wont let anyone call Hannah anything else and do tell them and have got quite nasty when they have kept doing it, my 9 year old nephew is worse, he is a little s##t and does it to wind me up

Lilys middle name is Anne and the PIL decided Lily-Anne was better than just Lily   So told the whole of their familys it was "Lily-Anne" :wall: I took it until 3months when I snapped and got OH to have a word and just kept giving them evils if they said lily anne or correcting them, the soon got the message haha! They keep asking me why I dont have it as double barreled first name ummm maybe its becuase her surname is double barreled :rotfl: To me that would be a bit cruel to her when she goes to school

Now the whole family take the piss saying were trying to make her posh giving her a DB surname, pffft :talkhand:

I have it all the time, her name is Elizabeth, I named her after my Mum who was known to friends as Bessie, now I wouldn't mind so much the Bet, Betty, Bessie abreviations but it's Liz and Lizzy , she gets called it all the time -Even by her Dad!!!!!! it goes through me! Now I do like the name Liz but it doesn't suit her cos she's a little baby and I think Liz makes her sound in her 30's and I can't but think of the term 'Mad Lizzy' for the latter. She also gets Lilly, Libby etc.

I'm not brave enough to correct most people though i just make sure I call her Elizabeth all the time!!!!!

We call Luke loads of different things from Lukie, chicken, pigeon, monster LOL There is a whole list.

Lukie is one of the main ones though.

Not much anyone can do with Eva but my friends little boy is called Henry and her inlaws hate it so much they just refuse to call him by name at all! He is referred to as 'the baby' - its not as if Henry is a weird name either!
