Im 17 weeks now and ive not had a proper midwife appointment. i had my scan at 14weeks and one appointement last week for a blood test and that is ALL she did. these were at the hospital aswell and not where i will be seeing my midwife. Im sure at this point with my son id heard his heartbeat and everything and was having regular appointments. My next appointment is another scan in another 4weeks when i'll be nearly 21weeks. I feel like im doing this by myself and not getting much support. i didnt think much to the care here when i had my son but they have topped it this time! i feel like i should have had more appointments than i have due to a previous c-section and a threatened miscarriage early on in this pregnancy. If this was my first baby id b a nervous wreck by now! x

I am in Glasgow too and I have the same feeling :( I notified docs when I was 6 weeks pregnant then never seen anyone till my 12 weeks scan which was done at 17 weeks!! I have not seen a midwife since! :eh:
I put it down to it being my third pregnancy but I do wish there was a bit more support available

That sounds terrible. I have seen my midwife twice so far. Once for the booking in appointment and the other one at 16 weeks (that was only 2 mins). I then have one next Monday when I will be 25 weeks. I think the care should be the same no matter where you live. xx

That is so bad! Its a joke up here. r u at SGH? x

hmm sounds like your missing some appointments there. When i first found out I was pregnant, I had a booking in appointment for when i was 8 weeks., she took all my bloods etc. Then got a scan at 12 weeks, which turned out to be i was only 9 weeks, so got another scan for three weeks later. Then had another midwifes appointment at 16 weeks, this was just for the downs test and a general chat, never got to hear the babies hearbeat but she did measure my bump. got my 20 week scan last week. then i have my next midwifes appointment at 25 weeks :). This would be my 2nd child and i didn't have any problems with the first. hope this helps you, it is different in every area though.

phone your docs & enquire? My midwife doesn't book all my appointments for me, she just told me I will see you again in 6 weeks, (up until now when its once a month) and you have to book it yourself for six weeks time! xx

Im 26+6 days and I've seen a midwife at booking appt and then again at 16weeks, two scans one at 12 weeks and one at 20 weeks. My hosp told me to see gp at 25weeks( and when i tryed to make an appt receptionist said oh we dont do antenatal apptS? then I rang hosp and the receptionist was rude and basically told me to have it our with my gp?!? Luckily I convinced my gp to give me one) when I got there she was really confused at why she was seeing me and not a midwife. Seeing a community midwife at 30weeks. I feel really unsupported in away too, this my first baby!( and my appt planner that they gave me basically says after that I see my gp till 38weeks? )

Aww bless u hun! I find it odd here, we have to book everything. Its not up to the midwife / hospital. I had to book my 16 week appoint and when I went to that she said don't forget, u gotta see doc at 25 weeks and me at 28 week. Here a blood test form don't forget to get that aswell!! I was like oh ok! Just hope I don't forget anything as preg brain has started to kick in! X

I'm in Edinburgh and suprised the treatment is so different. So far I have had a booking appointment at 8 weeks which was about 45 mins, scan at 12, then another appointment at 16 weeks, at my GP practice, where she listened to the heartbeat, another scan at 20 weeks and another midwife appointment at 22 weeks, again in my GP's although I am delaying until 24 as am going on flights the next day and she wanted to write me a 'fit to fly' letter as soon as to the flights as possible.

all in all am very happy!

Belfast Girl where in edinburgh are u?

Ur appointments seem pretty far apart- Im the same as a few of the othere had a 8 week check 16 had 2 scans at 12-20 had MW appt at 20 weeks and back again in 2. U should contact them and tell them u not happy.

My GP doesnt have anythin to do with my care after referral to a midwife. it used to be shared care here and u would see midwife at the doctors but that has all stopped now, u have to go 2 hospital to see a midwife. i nearly missed my blood test appointment aswell coz they never sent a letter out, i just by chance rang on the morning of the appointment and managed to catch it! Im sure with my son i had a midwife appointment once a month but now im going to be 25weeks before my first real appointment with a midwife that wasnt 4 a scan or anything. x

I go to the hospital for my midwife appointments. I've only seen midwife at 12 weeks, 16 weeks and 23 weeks. I think its different everywhere though. X

I am at the Princess Royal Kay. I remember last time (My youngest is only 2) that the midwife used to always write in my book when she would next see me. I assumed she had done that at my 20 weeks but when I got home realised there was no appointment noted :( I will give my GP a wee ring to see if I can book one myself.

Hi Lou

Scans at Lauriston and appointments at Gilmore GP. My next midwife appointment was meant to be earlier but we delayed on purpose to tie in with our flights.

Also doing a Tommy's study which mean I get extra scans! They are all at Simpsons.

Whereabout are you?
