Is it dreams/nightmares? Teething?

Isaac keeps crying/screaming out for us, up to 5 times a night, but when we go to him he is still asleep. The only way to calm him is to pick him up, rock him a minute, then put him back in his cot, all the while he's still asleep. Is it dreams/nightmares? Teething? Or something else? Any experience, advice, greatly appreciated :hug: :hug: :hug:
 
:think: idk what kind of scream is it? is it blood-curdling like a fox cry? or just normal baby-temper scream?

millie sometimes lets out a chilling yell in the nite, that altho isnt blood-curdling like a fox it still makes my heart skip and shudder for half a second. im of course highly alert ready to go to her- but she usually just moans a little bit then settles back down before iv even lifted my head up.

its not 5 times a nite tho, just once or twice, sometimes not at all.

Thankyou for the reply trixipaws :hug: Maybe my not leaving him to cry/scream is the problem then? If I left him he may re-settle himself :think: It's a proper blood curdling scream though, from silence, and its a bit heart stopping scary, so I or OH just go straight to him, within the minute, just I know a usual stir for him is slight mumbling and gurgles, but this is different, but ike I said he's not in any obvious pain as he's still asleep and he's certainly not hungry :|
 
:think: that's a hard one.
LO shouts out but usually wakes herself up :wall: My HV said that babies don't dream until they are much older - at this stage they are just 'practising' what they learn in the day time. But in this article http://www.drgreene.com/21_619.html it says that they do dream. If little Isaac is dreaming... what an earth about? :) Hope he settles down soon - it must be a shock to hear that in the night.
 
Maisie also does this sometimes and I think it is when she moves in her sleep and accidently wakes up but realises she doesn't want to wake up as she is tired so screams/crys a little bit and then goes back to sleep. I always pick her up though and as soon as I do she is asleep on my shoulder.

I could be completly wrong but that is what I think it might be.
