That is baby's movement slows down baby is on the way or can baby still be really active up to the point of labour?

Hmmmm...nort 100% sure. I would say from my experience that baby stays active (and if there is a real lack of activity ur supposed to call midwife) but that the type of movements change. I feel more rolling kind of movements or like baby is stretching an arm or leg out rather than kicking is that makes sense? x x x

Yes I feel that too, definately a rolling sensation.

Charley was still kicking away while I was in labour! That's why I didn't believe I was in labour to start with!

Im not 100% either... baby has always been active BUT he has certainly quietened down over the last 3 days. I hardly feel him and poke him lots to get him moving. I think because he is now engaged he cant move like he used to but boy he does when he wants!!

My midwife asked today if bubba is moving lots, which she is and midwife said that makes sense as she has dis engaged herslef and has turned!!! So I think lack of movement is more a sign of engagment which will lead onto labour.

I wanted to know this too as yesterday i must have had about 20 movements but today ive had 40-60 just rolls about and stabs me down there hahaha

Mw told me off when i asked her this.apparently any slow down in movement should be noted and mw should be told, just to be on safe side x

I still getots of movement but thought had read babies go quieter think?i must be going mad!

No your not hunny, i have been waiting for my bubba to slow down too! So many people said this happened to them and they started to panic and then went into labour.

I don't think baby would slow down but perhaps if its became "engaged" it might not have alot of space to do its usual kicking stunts!

It is a myth that the babys movements slow down towards to end of pregnancy and during labour. At least 10 patterns of movements should be felt everyday. If your baby goes quiet or doesnt move as usual, you should contact your midwife/ local maternity hopsital straight away for them to check that all is ok. Im a student midwife and this is what we have been taught hun. Hope this helps xxx

I've found I've actually 'felt' less recently but I know baby is moving cos I can see it! Sometimes I sit there and watch it moving but it's so slight I can't actually feel anything at all. At my last appointment midwife kept moving the doppler cos baby was all over the place but I couldn't tell! Think my nerves have given up, stretched too much lol :)

Just asked my sil and she said baby was even more active before going into labour and he was engaged x

Hey hun, when you say 10 patterns of movement what does that mean? Is it the individual number of kicks/rolls you feel or the number of sepaprate batches of movement you feel? My bump can be wriggling around for half an hour non stop, would this be classed as one pattern of movement? Sorry, just never understood this?! Thank you :) x

Its basically means that you have a good level of movement in one go. So your bump moving around for half an hour non stop can be classed as one pattern of movement. What we have been taught is that if you have a say 10 separate kicks in the morning and then nothing for the rest of the day and night, its not enough movement. The best thing for you to do is to recognise what is usual for your baby. For eg, my baby always moves when I eat, he/she moves when i wake up, mid morning etc. If your baby deviates from its usual 'routine' or you think its esp quiet they ring your midwife. Hope this helps xx
