 went to see MW today and whilst I was there thought I would ask about the injections I have to have after birth of my baby due to me having a high BMI, I was worried I would have tostay in hospital longer as I have to have em for 5 days. I was delighted when she said they were done at home, until she told me it wasnt her that gave them to me, but I myself!!!!! Im more scared of that than the labour/birth lol

Hun, i really wouldnt worry, you'll be more preoccupied by the baby and the birth lol. I know i havent had them myself etc, but im sure it wont be as bad as you think. why not get DP or a colse friend/family member to do it if you cant

You could always ask for a community nurse to come and do them if you are really worried about doing it yourself, but once you do try it its a doddle :D

They aren't half as bad as you build them up to be, I learnt that from experience....You can ask your OH to do them for you, some people prefer another person to administer them, but I found they hurt more when DH did them so I did them myself.
-But if you really can't do them - Yes, you can request a Community Nurse come and do them for you, but there may not always be one availible. Theres always the option of popping into your GP and having them done there, but this might not be feasible just after giving birth.

I'm sure you'll be fine though!

hi hun sorry to be thick but what injections do u have to have?

i dont know what its called cos i cant read the consultants writing on my maternity notes lol but its because i am overweight and to stop me getting blood clots after the birth, and youre not being thick, cos i had never heard of it until the consultant told me. :)

hi hun i had to have these but it was only because i was bed ridden after c section, i have a high bmi too, but i was told that if i had a normal birth and was up and about straight away i wouldnt have needed them, i didnt have them after my son because i was up and about straight away

They are blood thinning injections, most likely a Heparin - Brand name Clexane.
