I have read that it is not good to lye on your back in bed does anyone know if this is true? :nap:

there been a few threads on this i was told by my mw not to in tri 2.. But i wake up on my back half the time must do it in my sleep.. x

yeah the advice is not to lie on your back cus baby adds pressure to a bloody vessel I think? (sure someone else knows for sure)

However if you can lie on your back without feeling funny I think you are ok, you will know if its causing problems, and like above I go to sleep on my side and wake up plenty of times on my back instead lol

Yeah like teampc said it's something to do with when you lie on your back your uterus is pushing on a main blood vessel which can make you feel dizzy xx

I don't get how we can feel dizzy if we're laying down? Coz if you feel dizzy ... you lay down?! lol

I also heard this and have a book from the MW that says it too so I sleep on my sides. x

i try and sleep on my side. i was a belly sleeper though so struggle. if i do go on my back it isnt for long and i tend to be more propped up which i have heard is a good tay of doing it if you have to. xxx

I feel really uncomfortable on my back anyway so sleeping on my sides is not a problem. xx

Apparently you shouldn't lie on your back as the baby can press on certain blood vessels in your spine which can make you feel faint.

Not a lot you can do about it though if you're asleep anyway!

I've always lie on my back but then have to lie on my right hand side as bubs likes to fidget in the morning before I wake up. There the only 2 ways I can get comfortable and get some sleep.

I would say as long as your comfie get the sleep now while you can lol :)

Lying on your back can lower your blood pressure, hence why it is advised we do not sleep on our back. The left side is suggested to be the better side as you are not resting on any major organs, but I am a tummy person so I am finding it hard to sleep.

xx

I sleep on my back sometimes, also every morning I wake up on my belly without fail. I cant help it, its still really comfy... I can't wait for my little bump to pop into a big one. I do have a small bump but sometimes i forget I'm pregnant still xxx

I sleep on my back sometimes still. Talking about going dizzy when i had my scan i got up off my back and went dizzy i had to sit down for a bit...think it was because i had not had anything to eat either xxx
