Hey,
So last night I ended up going to the out of hour doctors because I can’t keep nothing in.. not vomiting, the other..
turns out I’ve got Gastroenteritis which is brilliant.
I can’t physically be sick, I feel sick every time I move. Has anyone else had anything like this whilst being pregnant and if you have what have you done to try and subside some of the symptoms?
I’m also finding it very difficult being at work, I work in retail and I’m on my feet majority of the day. I’m only almost 6 weeks pregnant but I am exhausted no matter what I do, I could be talking to a customer and I feel like I’m just going to throw up! Add gastroenteritis into it now :( I can’t work at the moment and I’m just sitting on the sofa feeling really sorry for myself.

Tri 1 is a very testing time. All I can advise is drinking loads at least 3 litres per day. Eat little and often, but low GI stuff. Sorry you’re seeing so awful x

It’s honestly horrible, don’t get me wrong Im absolutely blessed to be pregnant and I’m so happy. The morning sickness I understand I’m going to get but on top of gastroenteritis and not physically been able to even keep squash down this morning when I went to go take my folic acid, it’s horrible. The doctor said last night that I need to drink lots But I also need to try and eat, even I’m struggling to keep things in :( baby is taking all the good stuff out of the food I am managing to eat meaning I’ve got hardly anything left inside me hence why I am pretty much exhausted. My manager is been pretty good as she knows that I’m pregnant but I feel like I’m letting the team down because I’m spending more time sitting down or near a toilet then I am on the shopfloor :(

Apart from the gastroenteritis am actually struggling with the pregnancy itself, I don’t know if it’s worth seeing if I can have a bit of time off work just to kind of get my body to adjust because I’m really struggling. I know that I should just try and get on with it but my body is telling me different :(

I am very sorry, the only thing I can advise is to drink as much water as possible to remove inflammation and toxins from the body

Maybe try some dioralyte - I’m fairly certain it would be safe to take but maybe check first. Replenishes salts and minerals that you won’t be getting while ill.
Hope you feel better soon. X

I feel you - trimester 1 is horrendous. Constant nausea + fatigue and if you pick up any bug its 100x worse than before you were pregnant. As for work, you might just need to be signed off for a few weeks. There's loads of pressure on women to keep working because "pregnancy isn't an illness" but if you're on your feet all day you physically can't manage sometimes! Don't feel guilty about not being able to cope. If the nausea gets unbearable there are anti-nausea medications they can prescribe. I got put on Maxolon at 11 weeks (did nothing), then Zofran at 13 weeks and it was a life (and job) saver.

Unfortunately there's nothing you can do for the stomach bug other than drinking loads of water - you just have to wait it out :(

Well the 💩 has all stopped so that’s good..
but the nausea, that’s come back with a vengeance. It took me 25 minutes to sit up on the edge of my bed this morning I made it to the toilet after a few sips of water and that came straight out. I lay back in bed and I had a gingernut biscuits after about 10minutes I was able to make my way downstairs.. it’s not the fact that I’m struggling to eat, because I have had some super noodles, it’s having to stand up to try and make the food that’s making me more sick. I ended up ringing the doctors, they put me on some anti-sickness tablets Prochlorperazine buccal 3mg, one or two twice a day. I haven’t tried them yet because I only got them early afternoon so I want to try and take one tonight and then tomorrow morning.
As for work, I think I might need to go off for a few weeks because it’s really taking its toll. The doctor proscribed the tablets via phone cos I couldn’t even make it to the surgery :(

:( I hope the anti sickness meds work, how horrible! Your GP will sign you off if you need it and try to rest and take on your fluids still. If it doesn’t improve I would seek more advice from your gp x

I’m about to take my first tablet, I’ve tried to wait as long as poss cos it can make u drowsy.. I hate taking meds :(

Yes I found cooking was the worst trigger for the sickness. It was 4 months of toast for dinner for me unless hubby cooked! Hopefully the medicine will work x
