I went to an art class last night...*MORE SKETCHES ADDED*

I signed up for an art class at nightschool so I could have some "Me" time, and attempt to switch off from the day to day stuff (work, nappies, house stuff etc.) and maybe have a bit of a hobby and rediscover my creative side.

Well I went.

I didn't really speak to anyone... I felt really shy.... I am NOT a shy person. Just that some people already knew each other, it was soooo quiet and you would have been able to hear what people are saying. Guess I just felt self-conscious.

So, we drew an arrangement of vegetables.

I have a GCSE Grade B in Art, my specialist subject of my degree was Art.... and I was CR*P. Now I know I am probably being harsh on myself as I genuinely felt nervous and was worried about "failing" but I used to be so good so much better.

I might post a picture of my etchings later. Would you like to see my sketches? (awaits a chrous of Yyyyyyyeeeeessss in style of bunch of pre-school kids)

When I looked back on my pics one or two veggies looked quite phallic...goodness knows what the tutor thought of me!!

Anyone else doing an art class? fancy posting sketches with me? I could post each week so you can see if there is an improvement or .....not.... hmmmmm....

I have been told we will be drawing nude models later in the course!

*UPDATE* Here we go then...whachoo all thaaaaank????? Can you all recognise what vegetables I drew? Or are you all looking at the "phallic" veggies...although they are a sorry state for anything that might resemble a c*ck!!

WEEK 2'S ART CLASS

Here are last night's sketches girls. I didn't get to finish the sketch of an Eeyore cuddly toy so that's half finsihed. I was pretty chuffed with my efforts last night.

Not bad sketches at all. I think it's cool that you get to do some life drawing later in the course, too. I found I learned a lot about perspective, light and texture when I took life classes. Much more than with inanimate objects.

awwww bless you all. I am seriously lacking confidence in my art skills maybe in time I will feel more positive towards my art!

I have never really done portraits per se... but sort of dabbled in a bit of every type of art medium...just muddled along really doing what I needed to do for GCSE and art modules of degree etc.

Thanks for your positive comments gals, maybe next week I will feel better about it all.

I love ART next to dancing its what i love most in the world it was one of my fave subjects at school

Had great fun tonight. Well fun isn't the right word. I really enjoyed it. It totally made me switch off to stress/work/life you know thinkign bout washing/ironig blah blah. 2 hours just whizzed by...

will post sketches tomorrow gals so you can have a nose!!! too late to do it now. this week I was mostly drawing 3D shapes and a cuddly toy!!
