I'm worried... I have a temp of 37.9 a sore throat and feel awful.

I'm worried what to do? Will it harm my bean? Should I take regular paracetamol to keep the fever down?

Anyone know if throat sweets are safe to have in pregnancy?

Both paracetamol and throat sweets are fine as far as I know.....
Hope you feel better soon x

I've had the flu 3 times since being pregnant! Just getting over it now. I think the worse thing for the baby when your ill is getting too hot so paracetamol would help keep your fever down. I didn't take anything though, didn't wanna risk taking any medicines but I think doctor and midwife said a low dose of paracetamol was okay.

Hope you feel better soon. Contact the doctor/nurse or midwife if you are unsure :) x

I've just got over flu - i really was scared for the baby as it was attacking me so bad I thought 'is it attacking the baby like this?' I spoke to my doctor who reassured me that as long as you are able to fight it, then you are fighting it for the baby - it is only if your body packs up and is unable to fight any longer that the baby would be at real risk. I was advised to take no more than 6 paracetamol a day - to be honest they didnt do much good but like you say, you need to keep your temperature down as much as possible..cold flannels too. Hope you feel better soon xx

Try one spoon of honey, some fresh lemon in boiling water, drink that, it helped me a little and is safe and soothing xx

i no it sounds silly but my Nana used to give me hot lemonade ??
or honey and glycerin

paracetamol an throat sweets are fine just nothing with aspirin in that y u should stay clear of lemsips an them sorts of stuff

You can't get a flu jab whilst you are ill Jenny - even if you have a cold they won't give it you. Don't know why! x

Thanks all.

Looks like I have swine flu :( gp has given me a prescription for a relenza inhaler, but none of the chemists have it in stock. Boots ordered it and I'm hoping it comes this morning.

Feel awful ... Hope my bean makes it.

I went to occupational health a couple of weeks ago and they wouldn't jab me until 12 weeks :( wish I had gone to the gp for one now :(

try not to worry Bluebell - I think GP's are treating all flu as swine flu as a precaution...at the end of the day it's still flu and you can fight it. Take it easy, once the fever breaks you'll have turned a corner. Am sure baby will be fine, before I had my flu I couldn't feel baby move at all so I had no clue if it was ok...then as soon as I recovered I began to feel it bouncing around for the first time and was so reassured to know that after being so poorly it was fine :-) Get well soon hun xx
