I.love's (pre) labour thread

Thanks girls. Not a great start so far. I'm on CTG, and it shows around 40 for contractions - I think it means that something is happening, but not much? Does anyone know?

I've been monitored tons over last week as had early labour scare. The number isn't too important but if you sit at around 20and it slowly builds, peaks at 40 or whatever and settles to 20 again then it's a contraction, if it jumps straight up and drops instantly back down then it's not. Good luck xx

Sounds promising and like your body is progressing on its own!! Good luck :)

Ah thanks Jessiecat! There were a few peaks, but not many.

Still on CTG waiting for a doctor because baby's pulse is a bit high (and so is mine). So fed up - the rubbers are tight, and I am not comfortable on my back as the baby is on my artery and I'm not getting enough oxygen in this position. Been like this for well over an hour now!! :-/

I'd just move to a comfy position and let them move the trace. Hope they get round to see you soon xxx

Your pulse will be high because you will be breathing more thy should let you sit up a bit. I hope you get some answers soon, I'm checking back constantly for updates so feel free to vent or share whatever's going through your mind xx

Thanks girls :) they couldn't get a good signal in another position.

A doctor just came, not worried about the pulse and is happy with my plan of checking how far along I am first. Also had bloods taken 'to check everything' :)

So it's a bit of a sit and wait game now. Maybe things may kick start on there own - wouldn't that be nice :)

Hope u feeln better soon and then begin the induction. .

That would be lovely indeed! Just had a bishops score done and it's low - the MW could just about reach my cervix :(

Are u going to wait and hold off the induction

Hope your ok hun. I guess your waiting on the blood results and discussion with the consultant about whether you need to be induced feom a medical point of view. If not then even leaving it a few days can change favourability of the cervix and bishops score. Do you know the cause of your sickness and diarrohea was? Hope that's eased off too. X

Jessiecat it means that my body is not ready at all, and an induction would be difficult and with a higher chance of it not working and me needing an emergency section.

So yes TTC, I will be asking to wait for a couple of days, and potentially discussing a planned C section route.

Tiggy yep, the blood test should show if my OC levels are ok ish, and also how many white blood cells are in my blood, which I understand might show if I'm running an infection.

I was so hot here it was unbelievable, but had no fever?... Weird. Some time with a wet towel on my forehead helped.

I still haven't eaten anything and am not wanting too. Having lots of Lucozade.

Awww hun, do you think it could be viral tummy bug? Your white cell count could be high if that's the case, usually rest and time will make you feel better. I hope the OC levels are staying ok, sounds like you need to be resting and being looked after at home.

Xxx

Thanks Tiggy. My white blood count came back ok, but OC results are not good. So a Dr recommended induction today. I wasn't sure and asked for a second opinion, and was taken to a room with 2 other doctors and a quite high up (by the looks of her) consultant, and they all had a good talk to me and recommended to go with an induction as well. Said that waiting for a couple of days won't make much difference to my score anyway most likely, and the blood test results are worrying. So... Looks like we will be going for a pessary shortly...

Is that what you want to do? Over planned section? Exciting that baby be here shortly but I hope you're feeling happy with the outcome x
