Last Monday i had some spotting (brown blood) i totally freaked and the MW told me to go to the hospital. They ended up bringing my scan forward to the Thursday. Everything was fine at the scan and they brought my date forward a week. Baby was very active etc.

Today i have started spotting again (brown blood). I am trying to stay calm and not to freak but you know how it is girls. Why is it when it happens you always feel drained and get mild cramping too. I am sure your mind makes it worse.

If i had a decent hospital i would go up for the reassurance but they do not do scans when bleeding, they are just too busy.

Just wanted some hugs and words of comfort. My OH and i currently live a couple of hundred miles away but are in the process of moving in together. I will not see him until late Friday.

Ooops, has turned into a long thread but i hate the worry. Thanks for listening.

Hi hun...

its hard isnt it when you bleed but please if your at all concerned do get yourself up to the hospital or give them a quick ring to see what they say.. i was forever at the epau because i was scared like you, they dont mind honestly.. dont not go because you think there are busy, thats why they are busy because so many ppl need to be reassured hun..

so please ring or go and visit them.. good luck hope all is ok

Can you not say that you are bleeding heavier than you are and maybe get a scan, a little white lie ;)

hospitals who don't take bleeding seriously get on my nerves.
one thing i would say is: whenever u bleed, stay at home and rest. when my mum was pregnant with my sister, she was abroad enjoying her honeymoon and making too much effort, travelling all over the world, then she started bleeding and she phoned her doctor for reassurance and he told her : "go back to the hotel room, go to bed, rest, do not move from the bed for the next few hours." that's how seriously you're meant to take bleeding. spotting is not bad i think, but any type of blood or blood-looking fluid should be reported to the midwife just in case

I would go to the epu and demand a scan to put my mind at rest. I think it's terrible that they don't do scans for bleeding.

Try not to worry, look after yourself and let us know how you are getting on. xxx

You pay your taxes so demand a scan.Just seeing that littel heart flicker on the screen and being told all is ok is such a relief. Please insist on one. I had the same probs bleeding too early on, and being monitiored and scaned regulary calmed me down.
Please sont panic though, its probably just a bit of spotting, if it ges painful or you get fresh bloody accompanied by cramps thern ring your hospital

Ellie,

This is my 3rd pregnancy and for the first 2 pregnancies, I never had so much as the tiniest spot of brown blood, but this time! I was out of my mind with worry, with brown bleeding like you describe, quite a few times. Once, the bleeding even turned bright red (around 12-13 weeks) and I thought I was losing the baby for sure. Touch wood - I'm still here!

I had read in some birth manual beforehand that lying on your left-hand side is best for positioning the baby and for placental function (I think it helps blood flow to the uterus or something). I'm not sure, but I'd agree with Laetitia - take any bleeding as a sign to lie down and rest. When I had the bright red bleeding, I took to my bed straight away and only got up for the toilet and sat up to eat. I was still smoking then, so i gave up.

I still got some brown blood into the 2nd tri (must've been around 16 weeks), but I haven't had any since. It could be any number of things and not always serious, but take the sensible precaution of lying down on your left hand side as often (and for as long) as you can.

The one "good" thing about bleeding like this is, if you are ever feeling a bit ambivalent about being pregnant (having one of those days when you're a bit fed up of the whole thing and wondering whether it was such a good idea), the bleeding makes you panic and you know that definitely want your baby to stay in there and be okay! :D

I'm sure you'll be fine, but rest before you see your man on Friday!
xxx

Thank you all for your comments

It is much better today so i guess it might be just one of those things that is going to happen to me. Am going to buy a doppler today so i at least have that comfort.
