UPDATE 20/04/08 - IVE HAD MY BABY AND I'M BACK HOME!!!

Hi everyone!!! I am extremelly happy to let you all know I have had my baby! I went into see the consultant on wednesday the 16/04/08. He decided that I was to be induced that day due to my pre eclampsia. I wasn't even allowed home to get any of my things so I had to send my mum to go get everything! I started the induction process that day an hour or so after the appointment. My georgous baby then made his way into the world on 17/04/08 at 9.50pm weighing 7lbs 4.5 ozs. I was told shortly after the birth that he was extremelly lucky to have made it into the world as there was a problem with my placenta. It hadn't formed properly and it could have ruptured at any point in my pregnancy. My birth didn't go exactly to plan and I ended up only having gas and air! I was quite proud that I coped with the pain actually but everything happened so fast. I will post a birth story when I have time. I am very very tired as I am having problems feeding at the moment.

Here is my little baby Caelan Lee:

I haven't had time to read all the threads on here yet but a big congratulations to everyone who has had their baby's while I have been away and good luck to those are still waiting!!

Hi ladies. Not been on here for a while. Only just got out of hospital. My symptoms got worse on the night that I made this thread so I was told I needed to go in. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be and I got well looked after.

I was finally told I could go home yesterday and I am now taking tablets to control my blood pressure. I have an appointment with the consultant on wednesday. He didn't say what it was for but when he was assessing me in hospital he kept saying that they may want to induce me. I don't mind if thats what it comes to. I will do anything for my baby and if thats the safest option then I'm all for it!

I can't believe how much I have missed on this forum since I have been gone! I think it's going to take me all day to read to read this section alone! Well at least it gives me something to do!

Well I went to see the midwife for my 37 week appointment yesterday. It didn't go too well. I had alot of the symptoms of pre eclampsia. The one that scares me the most is the extreme swelling in my ankles, wrists and face. My ankles are that swollen that they have spare tyres round them. I can't fit anything on my feet at the moment.

I have been told I am on bed rest from now until further notice. They are sending midwives round to my flat to check on me daily and take samples away for testing daily. The midwife that came today said she would phone me after she has spoken to the doctor and see if they want me to go into the hospital for monitoring.

I actually wish they would just take me into the hospital. I don't have transport and that way I would know I am in the right place if I do get worse.

My mum had pre eclampsia when she had me. I read on some web sites that you are more likely to have it if one of your relatives have had it. I don't know if there is any truth in that but I am so scared.

It makes me wish I hadn't of moaned about all the little niggles and be greatful at the time because it could have been alot worse like it is now.

I think you're probably better off at home tbh. It's very hard to sleep in hospital with all the noise. I think you'd be knackered after a few days.
I don't think your treatment would be any different there either, just stuck in bed all day.

It's good the midwives are checking on you daily, I'm sure they'd transfer you to hospital at the first sign of your condition worsening.

I hope the swelling doesn't get any worse

I hope the swelling goes down for you but its good they are keeping an eye on you.

On the positive side you are 37 weeks now so term.

Poor you

That sounds awful - especially the swelling. Sounds like the healthcare professionals are doing their best for you though hun

Really hope you feel better soon. As Bloom says you are now Term so things are at least positive with the baby!

Thankyou girls. Looks like I am going to be glued to the telly and the laptop for the next three weeks! Don't know what I would do with out this site.. it's my lifeline!

Hi Soverign,

I've heard its hereditry too esp if your mum had it with you. My mum had it with me and she had to be hospitilised with it and she hated being in hospital. I am praying I dont get it as well. My feet are swollen but dont sound anywhere near as bad as yours  .

hiya. I'm in the same boat as you. Had 2++ protein in my urine last week so off to the hospital it was.

Had to do a 24 hr wee collection over the weekend (that was fun!!) and off to see the consultant tomorrow.

I'm just lucky that I can sit in bed and still be at the laptop and watch tv!!!

I think being at home is good. If you are having daily visits from the MW I'd think you'll be more comfortable and able to rest at home.

On the plus side, you have computer, TV remote and food!

awh doesn't sounds good but at least they are watching and looking after you
x

ah i hope u feel better soon, and try not to worry, if they are watching and checking u everyday then they will know if it gets really serious.. stress will make u worse..

poor you hunny but at east thier keeping a close eye on you and your at home.
take it easy and rest i hope you feel beter soon.

if you are anything like me, you'll be better off at home than hospital. My bp always soars in those places.

i was on bedrest from 35+ weeks it was awful, i wasnt allowed at home though as i had pre eclampsia, im so glad i was in the hospital because if anything had happend i was in the right place, hope all works out ok for you and baby

 my mum had pre-eclamp. but I have been ok so far (touch wood)

Home is the best place- food is better, internet and TV are free and you can fart to your hearts content without anyone caring

Hopefully you won't be waiting much longer and a bit of a rest will bring your BP down

Hope things get better for you, but not too long till your LO arrives then all this will be over and new things to worry about!

home is definitely better in terms of how much rest you can get. I was in from 34 weeks to 37 with my second and then had a stretch and sweep and had a 45 minute labour !! -you may well not have 3 weeks of it because if things dont settle they will consider inducing early.

was doing okish with this one but had a private medical today for an insurance policy (bit ludicrous really as weight, waist measurement etc all way high ) but anyway the urine test for that showed protein so seeing midwife tomorrow - annoyed as bp not too bad (and wasnt with dd either) its the protein gets me each time - have tried my best to rest but with 3 under 7 not easy

hope you dont have too rough a time of it - will be worth it when you see your LO and remember preeclamptic labours are often short :)

Hope you are ok. I know it is incredibly boring, but it is better to be at home. The MW will keep a good eye on you.
Hope you are feeling better soon!

   I really hope you feel better soon- it won't be long before your bubby is here!
