sleeping on my back!

i used to be a belly sleeper but stopped that but now the only time i am comfy is when im on by back, is this ok? iv heard its not good but my midwife has never said dont do it :?

all ive been advised is that if your on your back for anything over 15-20 minutes the weight of your baby can restrict the blood supply to itself and your legs.
thats what i got told... whether its true or not is anyones guess i just avoid sleeping on my back, just in case.

oh god i didnt realise thats what happened

i will be doing anything now not to sleep on my back, iv tried but now will try even harder knowing the consequences!

I sleep on my back loadz at the moment because the weight of bump - albeit still very small lol - makes me feel sick when it pulls to the side :puke:

I still sleep on my back sometimes. I think it depends on her position, sometimes when i lie down flat i feel a little faint, which must be her cutting off my blood supply, other times im perfectly fine and it can be the only way to give my back a rest sometimes.

I work on the philosophy that my body will let me know when i shoudlnt be doing something.

your body is really good at moving you while your asleep if theres a problem.
i fall asleep in whatever position i feel comfortable in. at the moment, thats on my belly :)

I sleep on my back sometimes but I find if I stay in that position too long I start to get pins and needles in my legs and toes so I end up turning over.

I know it's recommended that you sleep on your left side but I can't do that all night and usually end up on my right side at some point which I know isn't good but I'm asleep and can't really help it!

I still wake up on my back too but also believe that your body will make sure you move if theres a problem. I have one of those squishy pillows that I keep behind me in bed so that if I do shift around it can be put behind my back to prop me up a little.

maybe this is why ive woke up a couple of time with horrendous cramp in one of my calfs! I must lie on my back when im asleep for most of the night as i used to lie on my front but it knocks me sick doing so now... i cant stay on my side no matter how much i try & as for having a pillow in the bed... the fella seems to throw it out of the bed at some point during the night! maybe when i have a decent sized bump it will weigh me down & keep me on my side :D

I got a lot of cramps too but now their sorted  Before when I felt the need to strecth my legs I'd become a semi-zombie (not technically awake lol!) and stretch with my toes pointed down and THIS cramped my calfs! Now when I wake up with the urge to stretch I remeber to point my toes upwards when I do it and TA-DA!!!! no cramps since for the last 2 weeks :D

sorry to intrude  just wanted to suggest wedging a pillow at your back to slightly tip you over to the side, that way you won't roll back onto your back while sleeping. that's how i do it now and find it really comfy :D
