Arggghhhh

I'm fuming, had my docs appt to get booked in, and hes the old fashioned fuddy duddy type, and completely dismissed that my dose may need adjusting

Oh and to top it all off, you dont get a mw appointment anymore at 8-10 for booking in. Instead you wait for your 12 weeks scan (more likely to be 13 weeks) then see a consultant.

My bloods in Dec were on the right sides of the normal ranges
TSH 2.5 (think the high end of normal range was 4.5?) down from 9 at first diagnosis (Feb11)
T4 was also at the upper end of the normal range, 150ug pushed me above.

Would you be concerned? Having them rechecked tomorrow thankfully

Theres also no booking in appt with the mw, I dont get to routinely see anyone now until the 12 week scan when I'll also see a consultant. This makes me very worried when I know they should be checked regularly.

Results should be back next week, by the time I have an appt with the nurse for something else. Wondering whether I should ask her for her opinion (shes allowed to prescribe ask a doctors advice)

thats very odd i thought everyone gets booking in at 8 weeks ish and then scan at 12 weeks then if u have consultant u have that arounf 14 weeks and mw again at 16 weeks then 20 weeks scan that does not sound right to me at all xx

Hi, sorry but this may be a long message (on my soap box lol)!!!
Is this your first pregnancy?
I am on my fourth pregnancy and suffer from an under active thyroid (on 125 thyroxine) with my first two children I saw the specialist who deals with thyroide problems in pregnancy before 12 weeks and my dose was raised both times. On my third pregnancy my own doctor (not the specialist) said I didn't need referring so early on in pregnancy and didn't need to see the midwife etc (very similar to you) I made another doctors app to say I was concerned about my thyroid level and increased risk of miscarriage and she said not to over worry, miscarriages are common in any pregnancy so what will be will be!!! At my 12 week scan they found that the baby had died, I was deverstated of course.
That was two years ago, I am now pregnant (found out last Sunday and made a doctors app for the day after) I refused to see my usual doctor and saw a different one, I explained what had happened and told him my concerns (no one will ever know if the baby died due to my under active thyroid or not) but the doctor rang the specialist while I was there and the specialist said that my thyroid tablets needed increasing straight away as new studies have found that
Regnant women need extra thyroxine in early pregnancy. So I am now on 150 thyroxine and have to have another blood test in 6 weeks. My midwife app is when I am 8 weeks pregnant,
I personally would not leave the thyroid issue, an under active thyroid can cause problems in pregnancy and this new research has shown that you should not wait for the blood levels to drop before upong the dose or the damage can already be done (specialist words not mine) they didn't even test my blood, just raised the dose by 25. I have looked online and 25-50 is the usual amount they raise it early in pregnancy.
I hope this makes since and helps you but please do chase up the doctor, do t let them fob you off!!!!
Good luck Hun xxx

It's not my first pregnancy, and unknown if I had an under active or sub-clinical thyroid last pg.

I'd read those papers, seen the guidance etc, just isn't have it ith me. Due to the way apps work in my surgery I won't get to see the doc who diagnosed me (and would know this) anytime soon. Think I'll leave a note for him tomorrow, and press the nurse in my other appt next week about it again.

All I know is not pg 125 is te right dose, 150 makes me hyperthryoid. I was under dosesed to start, so think I can identify my symptoms if I need an urgent dose modification

Just hoping my referral to get booked in and scan, plus my new bloods tomorrow will flag to the antenatal team too
