Hypnobirthing research

 I wanted to KILL her at one stage during my labour

her voice is somewhat annoying, and I know every word she stumbles over on the track. FFS woman just rerecord it!!

You were right Miss, it arrived today. And her voice is actually not annoying to listen to. Tried this afternoon but hubby burst in the bedroom for his car keys, so trying again later! Will let you know if it helps. x

I think I just overused it when I was in hospital  I never felt annoyed when I was listening before the birth.

Yorksmum LOL bless your OH! Yeah Maggie's voice is OK - just takes awhile to get used to the slowness of it all! Hope you get back to it today hun. The first time I listened to it before bed I slept like a bloody log! x

Rayoflight I am sure it was you that made the comment on the Hypnobirthing ladies accent which made me think twice lol Something about you not being able to stand her voice during labour - the way you put it tho made me really chuckle! I would be really interested to listen to your version tho if you would not mind...

Not sure I could use the CD's with anyone talking during labour - the CD set I have has a disk with just birth music on it and I am going to be relying on my OH to help me keep calm - he is not phased by that responsibility at all suprisingly! I may be completely wrong tho and want to use a the CD's with people talking I am only going off my past labour....so who knows!

Hi - I have been to the Mongan Hypnobirthing classes and I can honestly say I went from terrified about giving birth to slightly anxious after the first class. Get onto ebay or amazon and look for second hand books and cd's. They really help.

by the time I got the hang of hypnobirthing, I was so excited about giving birth :yay:

bloody hell I keep loosing my bids on ebay for the Maggie Howell cd's grrrrr....obviously very popular !

We had our first Hypnobirthing class on Saturday and really enjoyed it. Although it says not to listen to the CD whilst in a moving vehicle, I thought I'd listen to the affirmations while hubby was driving...I fell asleep within 5 minutes listening to her voice. Yes, I can understand why people don't like it, but it's definitely soothing for me. I lay on the bed at about 8:30pm last night to listen to the affirmations again and the 'rainbow relaxation', but again fell asleep after 10 minutes. I woke up as soon as the rainbow relaxation finished. I then played it again, determined to listen to it all and I got through about 2 minutes! Hubby came in at 10pm just as it finished and woke me up.
It's really weird as I kind of feel like I remember things as if I wasn't asleep - surely I can't have been in a hypnotic state after such a short time and after only one class!!

What are we supposed to listen to during labour? Is it the affirmations? A relaxation track or is it music? I only have the CDs which come in the back of the Hypnobirthing book and the 'Rainbow' CD. Do I need more?

Thanks

L xxx

I listened to the relaxation track during early labour, mostly cos I was bored out of my brains  you dont need the CD in labour neccessarily but I found it useful to get me 'in the zone'

Yeah, I woke up in the middle of the night last night and tried to talk myself through a relaxation but it didn't work. I think having another voice telling me to do something is probably more beneficial. Can't wait for our next session on Saturday!

I must be very lucky as we get a 12 session course for free - I am definitely doing it as I have heard wonderful things xx

Wow 12 sessions free?! How long are the sessions? You will love it, it's brilliant. Are you in Blackburn then where they're trialling it? X

:yay: thats amazing!!!! I wish it was free here! I might do a bit of research to see if I can get funding on the NHS for my next pregnancy :oooo:

I have my first class on the 8th may and am looking forward to it. i get quite stressed over the stupidest things so am hoping it will help with that as well.

will let you know how i go!

They said the course is worth £300, but free to those who are at my hospital. Each session is an hour long. I am hoping it will enable the baby to just pop out without me even noticing I was in labour!!!!

 better than that, you'll know you're in labour and you'll enjoy it :yay:

Thanks Tiny, I've been looking for ages for the right words to describe how hypnobirthing was for me and you've hit the nail on the head - it made me enjoy labour! I did! I proper buzzed off it with every contraction through all 54 hours!
