Hello!

Anyone done self-taught hypno stuff with CDs/downloads? If so, any recommendations? Preferably someone with a nice voice, preferably British rather than American.

It makes me cringe a bit to even write "hypnobirthing" and loads of info out there makes it sound really twatty but I do essentially believe in being able to exercise control over the level of pain you're in, if given the right tools.

Anyone had any good or surprising results?

Due in July so just starting to think. No rush.

I used a CD I bought online that helped me massively. I also read Ina Mays Guide to Child Birth which I highly recommend. It goes right back to the basics. Our bodies know what they're doing and know how to do it. We just have to go with it.

For years women have been conditioned to believe child birth is painful when actually, it's the most natural thing in the world. If you convince yourself it'll be painful, it will be.

My first was born in hospital, 27 hour labour, 15 stitches and she was just 7lb 6oz.

I decided I wasn't going through that again so with my second I bought the CD, listened to it regularly (fell asleep to it most nights) and read Ina May's book. When the time came I had a 4 hour labour, birthed at home unassisted with no pain relief and had a 10lb baby!
