I've been reading that quite a few of you are using these books and CD's. Could you tell me which ones you have gone for and how useful have you found them...
I've been looking on ebay and amazon but there are just so many! I don't know where to start...
Thanks in advance guys xxx

I used the Mongan Method and I really liked it. A great read even without the CDs or the classes :)

I am reading the mongan method but have to say there seems so much to learn i don't know where to start! Ina May's guide to childbirth has been the best i have read although its not about hypno birthing more about natural birth x

Ina May and hypnobirthing are very close in their thinking. Hypnobirthing is really a fancy label for deep relaxation, positive thinking and allowing your body to get on with what it's designed to do. Not complicated but I guess they like a stand out name to market these type of things. :)

I have also read the mongan method and think I will find it very helpful in labour. The whole book is very interesting too. Well worth a read x

Don't know much about it hun but didn't want to read and run, i wish i had given it more thought earlier on though, if i do this again i would love a home birth and to look into hypnobirthing. Merv's mum I loved your birth story with Sid and i would aim for something like that next time x

Im reading the mongan method too. Ive also got ina may's guide to childbirth. Both thoroughly recommended. My Hypnobirthing book came with a CD and the relaxation track is heaven! Worth every penny. I was a bit worried that without doing the classes it wouldnt work for me but Ive gained so much from it already. And Katie I'd say its worth a read even now, you wont be able to learn the techniques probably but its so interesting to read about how birthing has changed over time and how fear/relaxation have a huge impact on your birth. If you could get it out the library, it would be a good read while youre waiting for your LO to arrive!

Im using both of those too ^^^ they are fabulous, so positive and I have learned so much as a second timer - I practise my relaxation as often as I can, I did at the hairdressers today :)

Thanks everyone. I ordered the Ina May's guide last night but was a bit overwhelmed with the hypnobirthing ones... will have another look now though. Thanks again xxx

Ok tiny i will try and get hold of it and give it a go x

I've been reading the Mongan method book, I'm on the 3rd reading now. It seems to make a lot of sense and the CD is great. Its encouraged me to go and join a series of classes for me and OH, I love how it gets OH much more involved.

Wish we had some local classes - i think if the techniques were explained face to face they would seem easier to follow - i'm just trying to practice the easier ones to start with.
