Hi all.

My baby is 11 weeks old and has now moved into his big cot that's in our room. He sleeps well during the night, goes down around 8:30 and wakes around 7am. He has night feeds around every 1.5-3 hours, starting off with 3 hours the getting more regular, though he doesn't properly wake for feeds.

The problem we have is that when I put him down, he starts to rub his eyes really hard and sometimes smacks himself in the face, always waking himself up. I've been wrapping his arms up in a cellular blanket, which seems to do the trick, but his body gets a little too warm and his legs have to be bear so he doesn't overheat (has only ever slept with baby grow under a sleep suit at most since birth and is a warm baby) and his legs get cold. We have the room at about 20 degrees.

Is there a better solution? Something that can wrap his arms up but not make him too hot? I'm not sure how we're going to manage when summer comes along :/

Any suggestions would be great :)

Oh, I have also read that you cant fully swaddle a baby after four weeks of age as it can cause hip dysplasia, which is another reason I don't wrap his legs up.

I used to wrap my LOs arms up in a blanket like you did until he got to about three/four months and could fight his way out of it. At night I would wait until he fell asleep then unwrap the blanket and pop one over him.

thanks for the comments everyone. iv just ordered the swaddle up. will post back when we've tried it :D

Well I bought a swaddle up but we bought a large as we thought lo might grow out of the medium quite quickly, so its not as effective as I think it would be. We do like the swaddle.up.though.

my husband has started sleeping in the spare bed and lo has started sleeping next to me. Image also bren fruit to fill jhim upa bitore at each feed.

I bought Swaddly, it was my best baby buy lol Google it, they are pretty new in the UK. I got mine from ebay. They are just for hands, impossible for baby to wiggle out of it and amazingly easy to put it on. My little one loved it!! I used it almost up to 7 month :) She slept like an angel in Swaddly!

Co sleeping works best for us. He sleeps in a vest and sleep suit now next to me. The swaddle up was perfect for summer but he grew out of that.

I tried the sleeping bags but they stressed me out getting all twisted and having to straighten them out when it came to feeding him in bed.

I figured out that he hits himself when he goes through a leap so I think its a frustrated thing and we don't see it much now he's mobile.
