I think you have a right to be mad, like others have said it's not like it's a common name or anything. In the meantime why don't you try and subtley (sp) suggest alternative names, like sazzylou said she's got ages yet.
But if I were in your shoes I would talk to her. If she was a real friend then she would listen to you..I bet if it was the other way round she wouldn't like it! It's not as if you can just change his name..Awww

my sister is still seething over our cousin using the same name some four or so years down the line...

I can see why you'd be annoyed especially if you do spend a lot of time together although in all fairness it's probably been over ten years since we've actually seen the cousin and certainly never met her LO!!!

I'd go with devious comments to put her off (ie my Tameron will feel dead special and yours won't) but not subtle other names suggestions. It really winds me up when people try to suggest names to me

Id be mad too. When my friends girlfriend asked what we were calling our little girl and I told her Evelyn she said she might steal it as she was having her baby first I think my reply was "do and die" lol She changed her mind in the end, hopefully your friend will do the same. Add a few "its a shame you couldnt think of your own name" comments that should help.

bloom - i dont think its unusual for family members to have the same name- i have the same name as my aunt, my OH's brother has the same name as his cousin... the difference here is cos the name is so unusual , and i bet tegala's friend had never heard of it before she mentioned it.

I personally just couldn't do it. A friend of mine has an adorable baby that she called Joshua (Josh) I actually quite liked that name, but I wouldn't have chosen it, because she had.
Mind you, that would have been very confusing as her name is also Karen (mine) and she has a cat called Max (same as mine)

I'm really happy with my choice of three names though, Daniel, Danny or Dan
