How many of you have inaccurate growth scans?

Just wondering if anyone has has been advised of their baby’s being on the larger side only to have a small or average size baby? At my last scan (32 weeks) I was advised mine has a big head and is around 6lbs, but in the same breath was told ultrasounds can be inaccurate.

I had a scan a week before I gave birth they said she was 6lb 12 she was 9lb I'd take what they say with a pinch of salt xx

Defo aren’t always accurate, mine was estimated 5lb something a few days before I had her and she was 7lb 8bxx

And I know people who were told to expect a 10lber who’s babies came out 6 or 7lbs lol! Xx

No personal experience as this is my first but I've heard plenty of stories where babies are both bigger and smaller than they estimate. Personally I plan to take what they say with a pinch of salt.

I had a scan at 40 weeks that estimated my little man was 8lb 13oz, he was born 9 days later and weighed 7lb 12oz. Since then so many people have told me that they also had inaccurate growth scans. Makes it all seem like a bit of a redundant process to be honest! Xx

I never had any issues with my growth scans. At 40 weeks I had one and without head measurement as she was too far down I was estimated at 7lb12oz. 10 days later when she was born she was 8lb6oz.

Had one at 36 week for static growth. Said she was at most going to be small at 6lb 6 at 40 weeks. Had me really worried about restricted growth/static growth because i had a really crap pregnancy being ill constantly.

She was born at 39 weeks at 7lbs 5oz, bigger than my first! Take it with a pinch of salt in my opinion

My friend had one at 36 weeks she was told she was 8lb 15 she had her yesterday at 39 weeks and was 11lb 5!!

Yep, I was told to expect a 10lb plus baby but she was only 8lb3.5.

I think they vary. I had a lot of scans in my last pregnancy and the last one was a few days before baby was born. They estimated 4lbs 9oz and she was 4lb 13oz so quite accurate for me.

For the majority I have seen, they are inaccurate. Yesterday I delivered a lady who was told to expect a large baby on scan, babe was 7lb 11. My own was incredibly accurate for my son. He was scanned a week before he was born at 6lb12 and when I delivered he was 7lb.
Professionally I have seen them way out. Most places tend not to induce for “large for dates” anymore but I would definitely heed static growth advice.

First one here was meant to be a 10lb baby and was only 8lb! Second was also meant to be large but was a diddy 7lbs, this one is apparently is measuring bang on dates, but we soon shall see! Haha.

My hospital does routine growth scans at 36 weeks - baby was estimated to already be 7lbs 12oz (first baby was 7lbs 8oz when she was born at 40+3) at the scan and would be a 9lber at birth. She was born at 39+4 weighing 8lbs 1oz.
