How long did it take Any of you to get treatment from first appointment to referral to treatment. This week I found out I'm not ovulating. My next appt is on 28th. Not really sure what to expect. What's the average wait if I ask for a scan of ovaries etc.. because I've been getting cramps on a daily basis for weeks now...initially put it down to nothing but now I know I'm not ovulating could be something more important...

Have your appointments been with the GP? What tests have you had done?

I already knew I had pcos so when I started ttc and wasn't getting a period I knew it was preventing me so my GP was able to refer me to the fertility clinic. From my GP's referal to the clinic I waited 3months. This is certainlt the average wait time in my area for any referal (even dermatologists etc).

I'm guessing you have had a 21 day blood test. Hopefully someone who didn't know what the issue was until they started ttc will be able to tell you how they got their referals etc as my referal was a bit different since I knew it was my pcos.

Hi, yes my appts have so far been with my gp though I'm lucky one of the gp's at my surgery specialises in infertility so they have recommended waiting to see her rather than a normal gp now I have my results back from bloods. I just wasn't sure what to expect next really. I wish the doctors had listened to me years ago because I've always been convinced something wasn't right for a few years now. Way back before I met hubby to be. And I brought things up again about 18 months ago and was fobbed off again because I wasn't ttc they wouldn't listen to me. :-(

I first went to gp in jan I think and just started treatment a few weeks ago. In between I had blood tests, ultrasound, first appt at the hospital where they booked me in for hsg, hsg and then second appointment at the hospital where they prescribed clomid. I think those are fairly typical steps to go through and you usually wait at least a few weeks if not more between each - hence why it takes so long.

I think it took me longer than most, partly because waiting times in London seem to be longer and partly because I had to switch hospitals to get nhs funding. If your gp refers you, check in advance what they will and won't pay for - my first hospital wouldn't fund the clomid tracking scans on the nhs. Good luck! Xx

I went to my doctor what will be 4 weeks ago on Monday as I'm very irregular and only have 5 cycles since feb. Since then I've had 2 blood tests, hubby's had a SA test and repeating another in 2 weeks time and I've got an ultrasound scan booked for Thursday- as I said in my thread I'm shocked at how quick everything has been done so hopefully by Xmas I should know what's causing my irregular cycles and hopefully in the new year we can look into getting some help! X
