Think it depends when in your labour you have it. I had a late epidural for emergency forceps delivery, and I was up and about about an hr and a half after. As Tinks said, bit shaky though.
I asked my midwife and she said they like to get you up and about trying to walk after 2 hours and like to keep you in hospital for 6 hours after, obviously if its your first baby I'm guessing it would be longer but with second probably just the 6 hours all being well is what my midwife said, hope that helps x
Definitely depends on the circumstances of the labour. I had an epidural for my c-section but that took hours to wear off and I wasn't allowed up for 24 hours afterwards. I should have been in hospital for 2-3 days, but due to bp playing up I was there for 8 in total.
i got my epidural then needed to have an emergency c-section prior to the epidural subsided so i was put under for the c-section ... however when i woke i didn't feel my legs for about 4 hours however all the discomfort medications may have been the reason i didn't feel anything
I had a spinal for my emergency section (pretty much the same thing but a one off shot rather than the continuous that I believe an epidural is). I had it at 9.30 am and could feel my legs by 12 but wasn't allowed out of bed for 24 hours but I think that's more to do with the section xx
