Hi Girls!

I am loving life as a new Mum to my gorgeous daughter Ffion who is now 5 and a half months! BUT BUT BUT, I can't believe I still have not lost the weight...it is starting to get me down. I have always been a size 10 - 12 and have been quite proud of my figure but even after nearly 6 months I am still a size 12 - 14. I have just started Slimming World and also play a hard game of Netball once a week. I am continually lifting and carrying one thing or another (baby, seat, pushing pram etc).

Do you find the extra weight is really stubborn to shift, or is it just me? It is mainly round my hips, belly and thighs (arms are not to bad). My chest is also bigger (from a C cup to a D / DD).....

The only thing that makes me feel better is looking at the little miracle that me and DH have produced.

Everybody around me says I am doing well but I am still 11 stone 5 pounds instead of 10 stone!

HHHEEEELLLPPP!!!!! AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!

I remember having my dd in the Sept and then it wasnt until the following march that I really started to shift the weight. I did it by joining Weight Watchers. Try not to be too hard on yourself, they say it takes up to a year to get back to pre pregnancy shape and it sounds like you are doing everything right. Take heart and I'm sure it will soon start to move.

I rememeber after i had my first i had lost most of my weight apart from 7 lbs by the time she was about 7 months but i still didn't fit in my clothes. My waist was still a size bigger than it was before cos the weight never came off there. I took about a year before my waist came back.

Thanks girls,

You have made me feel much better...yes - the waist is the problem!! I used to have a very slim waist but now I no longer have one!!! It is great to know that it eventually returns, even if it takes a year...

It is good to know that it is not only me that feels like it is taking too long. I thought the weight dropped off in a matter of weeks! My mum keeps reminding me that it took 10 months to go on so it will probably take to same to come off.

I have never eaten so healthily, which is good BUT i am drinking quite a bit of alcohol in the evening - making up for lost time!!

Thanks for your replies

I still have a very loose flabby belly - I still look slightly pregnant actually. And my daughter is 1 tomorrow! :(

My weight came off really quickly but I've got a spare tyre around my belly now.

Friends keep telling me that once LO starts toddling it will drop off but I think I also need to try and get to the gym. I think only fat burning will get rid of it but finding the time is not easy.

Don't beat yourself up about it, lots of us are in the same boat. Give yourself more time, it took 9 months for your precious one to get here so you should give yourself at least that amount of time to get back to your pre-pregnancy figure.

Hi Julia, are you breastfeeding? A couple of my friends have told me that although it helps lose weight initially the last bit doesn't come off úntil after you have stopped.

Otherwise I am sure you just need to give your body time. I know where you are coming from though, I am already worrying about it but as long as I know it will come of eventually I will also feel better :)

I'm back to pre-pregnancy weight already but my clothes still don't fit?

I haven't tried to lose the weight but I didn't put that much on and at 10 stone and 5 foot 1, I am a little plumper than ideal anyway.

If anything, my arms and legs feel a little slimmer but am still bigger round the middle, not sure if that'll ever go as I'm a rubbish dieter/exerciser :wall:

Minxy sounds like you are doing really well getting your pre-pregnancy weight back so quickly! Your mid section is bound to take longer to go back to normal as everything needs to goback to where it used to be :D

yeah thats definatly right about the Breast feeding bit, cause your body stores fat for you to make milk, and it stors this fat round you bum, hips, tum and thighs.

Are you actually weighing more still or are your measurements just off still? Cause I found that i got down to the same weight pretty quick (thanks slim fast!) but my tum still looked a lot bigger, but that was due to the stretched stomach muscles not fat. Try doing sit ups every day. Or like someone suggested on here before hula hoop!
