How long do periods take to settle??

So I came of the pill in Aug and it took nearly 5 weeks to have my first period. I've tracked the last 2 cycles with opks and had positive on CD 10 and 11 both cycles. First month was a 24 day cycle and 2nd 26 days. I know opks only show that the body is ready to ov but I can't temp as I get up at different times every day. How long did it take others before cycle settled? We're currently ntnp. Thanks x

Hi, I’m sorry I don’t have an answer, I also came off the pill in August and it took 6 weeks for my first period, since then I’ve had 32 days, 45 days then 31, so mine haven’t become regular yet either.

I just wanted you to know you weren’t the only one who didn’t go regular straight away.

Mine were a nightmare when I came off the pill. Had nothing for nearly 6 months then I was having really light bleeds. They were regular but just didn't feel like proper periods. Turned out my problems were due to a high prolactin. Once that was sorted, my periods came back and I started ovulating again.

I'm not suggesting that there's a problem as cycles do often take a little while to settle down and I had other symptoms too but don't put off seeing the GP if they don't. I waited far too long assuming it was normal and in hindsight, I wish I'd gone sooner.

Im afraid there is no set answer to that question.
It varies from lady to lady.
Some it settles quickly and others it takes a while.
It also depends what they were like before goin on BC.
Id give it a few months then if dont seem to settle get some advise from your gp.

Thanks for the advice all. I know it took a while when we were ttc our first as I was coming off the injection. This period has been quite different so I think it's made me question. Will monitor for the next month or 2 and see the GP if needed x

I came off mirena coil in Feb which has hormones released from it and I always had a small monthly breakthrough bleed when on the coil. I settled straight onto 28/29 day cycle but then had 2 months up and down ranging from 23 right up to 37 days at longest then seems to have settled down. It's possible my longest was a very early loss altho I never got a positive test.

I would say just roll with it....keep recording on an app or something. It's really useful to collect that info for when you start TTC fully.
