Hi ladies, I had my baby a week ago yesterday, it was a back to back labour where the baby turned the whole way around on the way out!

So I tore quite badly inside and out - outer labia I think they've called it? I got 16 stitches which took two and a half hours to do.

Basically please tell me how long it took for you to feel more comfortable down there?!? I an in absolute agony and can hardly walk without crying. Even walking to the kitchen leaves me in tears. Midwives have looked andaconfirmed it's all looking good and there's no infection

Thanks girls x

Well I had a second degree tear and I never felt any discomfort down there?! But friends of mine who had tears were still finding them uncomfortable 3 months later. If your worried ask your midwife/health visitor!
Xxx

Have they given you painkillers? I had a forceps delivery, so had episiotomy, tears & grazes (they used the forceps to turn her), & I really didn't suffer that badly, to be honest. I was on double strength ibuprofen, paracetomol & arnica 4 times a day- I took them for 3 weeks, & stopped because I wasn't in pain anymore. Fpr me, it was mainly a feeling of being very bruised, & occasionally, if I moved awkwardly, I could feel the stitches pulling...don;t be afraid to take painkillers- they are safe for baby, as the hospital sent me away with mine. :)

i had an episiotomy and took just over 2 weeks for me to be able to walk confortably and even a month later felt alot of pulling x

I only had an episiotomy and it took 4 weeks to heal reasonably. Have they given you diclofenac? Painkillers are a must

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

Put some witch hazel on some cotton pads and dad the area each time you go to the loo. Helps with the healing!

My stitches were tender for about 8/9 weeks

xx

Thanks girls …after posting this I'm actually feeling better today!! I've been told I was just over doing things I was never sitting down long enough for it to heal and it's definitely the bruising causing the pain. I'm taking pain killers and anti inflammatories which are starting ty help. Thanks all for the advice x

I had a 2nd degree starburst tear with DD. Had 57 stitches, all internal (due to back to back birth (she didn't turn). They took about 9-10 weeks before I felt human again.

I've had another 2nd degree tear this time but only had 5/6 stitches so fingers crossed they'll heal a bit quicker.

It is very uncomfortable and I do feel for you! Just dose up on painkillers and put your feet up :) xx

57 stitches?!?!

Feck I thought I was bad! Yes it was Spencer turning that caused the tears. I've managed to have a glance downstairs and it would room it's the tear on the outside that's causing the pain, because of where it is it is rubbing when I walk or stand so I suppose it's not been getting a chance to heal x

Yeah lol, 4 hours in theatre under general anaesthetic for that bad boy ha ha. But I didn't have any external just a slight tear. Just take things slow, give your body time to do what it needs to do :)

You're a braver woman than me! Took me about a month after DD before I braved looking and I'm not planning on looking any time soon this time ha ha xx

Ha ha fair enough. OH was trying to look when I was in the bath the other night... I told him where to shove it! It was after like 1 day. Eww. Although he did watch the mw stitch me up. Weirdo. Lol xx
